‘Atlanta’ season 3: Everything you need to know
Donald Glover’s Atlanta is one of the best comedy series out there. It also feels like we’re waiting forever between seasons for this landmark series, you know? With season three of Atlanta getting delayed, we’re here to share everything that you need to know about the beloved series.
And there are going to be some big plot points in season three to handle. Earn (Glover) and Van (Zazie Beetz) discovered that their daughter Lottie (Mia Atehortua) needs to be in a school for advanced learning. Alfred (Brian Tyree Henry) and Darius (Lakeith Stanfield) head off to Europe for a tour. The season ends with Earn slipping a gun into Clark’s (RJ Walker) carry on, which will surely have some implications in season three.
We’re going to have to wait for those implications though.
Season three is a ways off
Atlanta season three has been delayed until 2021, according to FX president John Landgraf. The reason is pretty simple: scheduling. Glover, Beetz, Henry, and Stanfield all have had some major career advances in the past couple of years. They’re in demand actors who have a variety of other projects.
Landgraf did confirm that season three of Atlanta will premiere in early 2021, so it’s not that long of a wait, all things considered.
What about season four?
Atlanta’s fourth season may not be as long of a wait. Season three and four of Atlanta will shoot at the same time. So when season three wraps up, we don’t think we’ll be waiting as long for Atlanta’s fourth season to hit the airwaves.
Not that we’re complaining about getting more Atlanta on our screens.
Season three has been extended!
Atlanta season three originally had an order of eight-episodes, but that’s been bumped up to ten, much to our unending delight. It’s an unsurprising move as the series has been a critical and audience darling for FX so it makes sense that they would want to get more content involving the beloved series out there.
It just makes sense to order more of a thing when you know it will get attention. More episodes of Atlanta will definitely get FX some attention.
Season three will take place outside of the US
If you were hoping to see Alfred and Darius’ Europe tour, then good news, it looks like we’re getting it. Landgrad didn’t give much away about the season three plot of Atlanta, but he did confirm that it was being shot outside of the US.
This also probably explains some of the delay in getting the season. Hitting Europe means hitting a lot of countries which can be a bureaucratic nightmare of red tape. Outside of that revelation of location for season three? We do not know much about the upcoming plot for the long-awaited season of Atlanta.
