11th LET’S MAKE IT! Screenwriting Contest Invites Writers for Production Opportunities
The 11th LET’S MAKE IT! Screenwriting Contest invites writers to take their stories from page to screen. You have imagined the performances, the images and the moment your story meets an audience. LET’S MAKE IT! gives screenwriters a reason to take the next step: an exclusive production opportunity backed by filmmakers with a track record of bringing scripts to the screen. This contest provides the platform for writers to see their visions realized through professional production support.
The 11th edition’s Grand Winner Golden Nib receives USD 200 and the opportunity to have their screenplay developed and produced by MC PATRAT FILM S.R.L. Finished films will be submitted to festivals worldwide; finished pilots will be presented to television networks and streaming platforms with the aim of securing further development as a series. This production arrangement provides winners with a concrete path from script to screen or series.
Projects produced through the contest and its creative collaborations include AMERICA, MOTHERS, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TEETH!, THE OTHER SIDE OF CURIOSITY, KNOW THY PARTNER and THE SAMCA FILE. From live action to animation, from short film to feature film, these productions show what can happen when a screenplay finds the right filmmaking team. For third-edition winner Paul Weidknecht, seeing KNOW THY PARTNER brought to life meant discovering new dimensions in his own story. Second-edition winner Ron Riekki described the excitement of seeing his writing become animation, a medium he had loved since childhood.
The organizers seek strong, distinctive screenplays with cinematic potential. A focused cast, manageable locations and a compelling story can be an advantage within their independent production model. Your screenplay does not need an enormous scale to make a lasting impression.
Writers can submit in English or Romanian, across nine categories covering micro-shorts, short films, medium-length films, features, webseries, sitcoms and one-hour dramas. Selected projects will normally be produced in Romanian, with the team handling translation and adaptation where needed.
Nine Category Winners each receive a two-page screenplay analysis from one reader and advance to consideration for the Grand Winner awards: Golden Nib, USD 200 plus the production opportunity; Silver Nib, USD 100; and Bronze Nib, USD 50. Ten additional Rising Star recipients will be selected randomly from eligible submissions with no previous prize or placement. One receives a one-hour online meeting with filmmakers George and Horia, including screenplay feedback and industry discussion; nine receive a written feedback letter each.
Choose the screenplay that best represents your voice. Explore the previous films, review the rules and submit your work for the chance to begin a new creative collaboration.
