Dropping clues
Just as consistent as her flawless discography from Reputation to Fearless and more, Taylor Swift loves to surprise her fans. That’s exactly what she did this morning when she posted a very cryptic video to her Twitter account and had the internet shook. In the caption, she wrote: “*presses post* *cackles maniacally* Level: casually cruel in the name of being honest”, referring to the lyrics from her hit break-up track “All Too Well”.
The video included a vault that opened to reveal tons of jumbled-up letters. Of course, anyone who remembers the Fearless (Taylor’s Version) release is no stranger to this special vault. Last time, Taylor Swift did something similar by having her fans solve each configuration of jumbled-up letters to reveal the additional tracks that would be included on the Fearless re-release, but this time, things were a bit different in this post.
For one, the vault this time was red with flying autumn leaves in the video to of course pair with the Red album theme, and these clues were also a bit trickier to solve. Fans soon realized that the letters formed a perfect crossword puzzle, which definitely took some more time to finish. After all, she did specify that the level for this game would be “casually cruel in the name of being honest”, but Swifties were still able to figure it out.

The new songs included “Ronan”, “Better Man”, “Nothing New”, “Babe”, “Message in a Bottle”, “I Bet You Think About Me”, “Forever Winter”, “Run”, “The Very First Night”, along with a TEN MINUTE version of her very emotional break-up ballad “All Too Well” from the original Red album. If that wasn’t already exciting enough, the puzzle also revealed Phoebe Bridgers, Ed Sheeran, and Chris Stapleton will be in the album as well!

The upcoming album titled Red (Taylor’s Version) is part of an ongoing re-release of all her past projects ever since 2017’s Reputation that Taylor Swift has been working hard on this past year. The decision to re-release her past projects came after the rights to her projects were sold by her former record label Big Machine Records without the artist’s permission.
While Swifties were already given enough surprises today, the pop star also included another equally cryptic tweet after the crossword puzzle was solved, tweeting: “Your next clue will be in the spot where you hear red . . .” We have absolutely no idea what this means yet. One thing is for certain though: we’re so, so ready to hear Red (Taylor’s Version) once it comes out on November 19th. We’ll be counting down the days!
