Like many artists, the innovative Parsons faced many obstacles when entering the arts and entertainment industry. Moving from a small town to a big city, he struggled to make ends meet while nightly chasing his band’s hopes and dreams. Despite their efforts falling on deaf ears, one DJ in Toronto took notice of their music and vouched for them to the upper brass at Canada’s top rock radio station.
Despite his success in music, Parsons has become increasingly interested in challenging himself to tackle the American world of voice acting. He has already voiced campaigns for several brands, including Dempster’s, Marks, and IKO Industries, and recently recorded eight months’ worth of The Home Depot’s Product Walk demos for all of the U.S.
Although Parsons‘ voice acting career initially took a back seat to his full-time gig as a traveling artist, the results of his voice acting have been nothing but positive since he stepped away from music. With his experience as a DJ and rapper, Parsons has developed verbal calisthenics that allows him to bring unique energy and character to his voice-acting roles.
Parsons has learned many valuable lessons throughout his career. For aspiring entertainers, he stresses the importance of always listening to oneself and following one’s passions. In addition, he advises that success in the arts and entertainment industry is not for the faint of heart and requires plenty of self-belief.
As he looks ahead to his future, Parsons envisions embarking on a world tour as part of his new rock band, DIVIIDEDBY (with Adam Gontier of Saint Asonia and formerly Three Days Grace) emphasizing making a name for themselves in the United States. He regards earning recognition in American music circles as the pinnacle of success, akin to winning a gold medal at the Olympics. Alongside his musical ambitions, Parsons harbors a desire to pursue a career as a voice-over artist, lending his distinctive voice to movie trailers, as well as campaigns for television, radio, and web-based consumer brands throughout the English-speaking world.
