PS5 and Xbox Series X sold out: Twitter’s got Black Friday memes

Gamers recently posted memes on Twitter protesting the lack of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles available. Many customers have to wait till Christmas to receive their iconic gaming devices. 

Xbox Series X|S orders vanished almost as fast as the PlayStation 5 orders. RadioTimes reported retailers were constantly restocking on launch day. Sony told gamers, “Everything is sold. Absolutely everything is sold.” The PS5 company confirmed more stock would be made before 2021. 

Walmart announced that customers should preorder their purchases before Black Friday sales hit. However, many couldn’t purchase when the due date arrived. RadioTimes confirmed Walmart had stock during the week that was sold out within minutes; many users left without a purchase.

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S were available online on Walmart’s website at 9 pm ET on Thanksgiving. Walmart had limited stock available, but the retail chain’s online servers had a bad reputation as it crashed in early November.

Online sales

Preordering may have worked in the past, but in 2020 it was a gamer’s worst nightmare. CBS reported bots were a massive problem online, and they made many purchases before human consumers.

Underestimate 

Screenrant reported Kohl offered a massive quantity of PS5s before Black Friday arrived. Suddenly, Kohl’s stock ran out and the retailer had to compensate those that preordered the PlayStation 5. The orders were cancelled immediately, and only some customers got to take home their new gaming systems. 

Gamers will have to wait for their online purchase or for Santa Claus to bring them either an Xbox Series X or a PlayStation 5. Is it too late not to be naughty? Let us know below.
