‘Hogwarts Legacy’: Will the ‘Harry Potter’ game support J.K. Rowling?
This latest news is not for the faint of heart – or Muggles. Warner Bros is attempting to make Potterheads have a better 2020. It looks like they may be succeeding. It’s been announced that we can expect a whole new Harry Potter game. Being locked indoors doesn’t look so bad after all.
Sony released the Playstation 5 price list yesterday during a live stream event. What we didn’t expect was a new fantasy game that’s not going to leave our minds until we get our hands on it. With recent controversy surrounding the series due to a certain author . . . let’s just say we needed this fantastic news.
What can we expect from this latest addition to the Wizarding World? Will J.K. Rowling benefit from the game’s release? Here’s everything you witches, wizards, and ordinary folk will need to know.
Discovering the legacy
Avalanche Software is the team behind what’s being named Hogwarts Legacy. Set in the 1880s, we’ll be able to go on an action-packed adventure as a student in the iconic Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
According to the Warner Bros website: “Now you can take control of the action and be at the center of your own adventure in the wizarding world. Embark on a journey through familiar and new locations as you explore and discover fantastic beasts, customize your character and craft potions, master spell casting, upgrade talents, and become the wizard you want to be.”
Hogwarts Legacy will be an immersive, open-world RPG where you go on an adventure uncovering an ancient secret to save the wizarding world. We’re hooked. Give it to us now! Unfortunately, it won’t be released until 2021.
J.K. Trolling
Even though Potterheads everywhere are brewing their own Locomotion charm to bring the game that much faster – there’s a catch. Will Joke Rowling profit from the royalties? Following a series of hateful comments from the author, many fans discredited J.K. Reap-What-You-Sowling altogether.
Oh, that open world Harry Potter game is finally being revealed officially.
Reminder, buying this game does financially support J.K. Rowling, who is a huge unappologetic Terf. She actively hates people like me existing. pic.twitter.com/jbPaYvhaQH

J.K. Rowling is now labeled as a TERF (Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist) after expressing views which can be perceived as transphobic. A gaming journalist came forward after fans were unsure whether they should be excited for this game’s release. It appears everyone is performing ethical somersaults trying to justify purchasing the game. Laura Kate Dale took to Twitter to express her distaste over fans’ reactions.
People have been discussing whether or not this is the case. According to a producer from Warner Bros as quoted in Polygon: “J.K. Rowling is not directly involved in the creation of the game, however, her extraordinary body of writing is the foundation of all projects in the Wizarding World.”
Following Rowling and her awful comments, it’s hard to say for sure whether or not we can support this game and its release. While unsure what to Expect-o Patronum, Potterheads are, of course, excited! Did you see those old games on the PS1? This would be a total upgrade.
