Indie Event of the Day: Bolton Film Festival
From October 1st until October 3rd, we are greeted by yet another edition of the Bolton International Film Festival.
Bolton Film Festival is located in the UK and has been voted a “Top 100 reviewed” festival out of over 7,000 film festivals worldwide. The festival is a hive for like-minded people to come together and marvel at some great films. For Bolton to have its own festival is brilliant for those around the area to come together and celebrate fantastic cinema.
BFF covers a wide range of films including BAFTA and Oscar-winning short films, local filmmakers, student films, and BFI and Creative England short films. Every year turns out to be exceptional, and this year will be no different.
This year’s festival includes talks from Oscar-winning VFX studio DNEG, BAFTA-nominated writer Matt Greenhalgh, and Bolton-born actress Diane Morgan, best known for her role as Philomena Cunk on the BBC hit series, plus many more. A lineup of all twenty-two talks can be found on the Bolton Film Festival website.
This year BFF will screen over 150 short films across a three-day period and five venues. It will host a total of twenty-two talks and five masterclasses from some of the greatest talents in film whether behind or in front of the camera.
Bolton Film Festival is definitely worth the visit – we hope to see you there.
What people have to say about BFF
“Out of all the festivals I have been to this one is definitely up there as one of my favourites. They had their own unique touches which really made the festival special. It was amazing to see our film in front of such a big audience and on such a big screen, it was HUGE.
“This festival has so much heart and the festival organisers are super professional and really care about the filmmakers. There passion shines through. Oh and the awards are SO nice.”
—Oscar-winning director Chris Overton (The Silent Child)
“When Bolton, the town where I was born, announced they were launching a film festival I welcomed their invitation to become a patron. Bolton Film Festival gives film-makers and actors in the area an opportunity to celebrate the talent in and around the town, to share their work to a wider audience and to meet industry experts and other film-makers from across the North West and across the UK.
“Manchester offers so much, but it’s fantastic that Bolton now has an annual film event of its own.”
—Maxine Peake (The Theory of Everything, Black Mirror)
