Our Exclusive Interview with Izabellah Diez
Your lead role in “Run This Town” has gained attention on Tubi TV. Can you share your experience working on this project and how it has impacted your career as an actress?
My experience on “Run This Town” was a completely positive experience. The cast and crew were all very sweet. The Director was exceptionally amazing. The time that she put into making the actors feel comfortable was incredible.
Having appeared in Nickelodeon commercials for Barbie and Twozies, what draws you to projects geared towards a younger audience, and do you have any memorable moments from your time working on children’s content?
I have always loved being around younger kids and younger kids have always loved being around me. So anytime I book a commercial or a film with younger kids it is always the best and most fun experience. I work hard to be a role model to younger kids. I hope that they learn from the footprints I leave behind.
“Gacy: Serial Killer Next Door” and “My Father’s Fiancée” areboth set for release in 2024. Can you give us a glimpse into these projects and the characters you portray?
Yes. I am so proud of the work I have done in both of the films. In “Gacy: Serial Killer Next Door” I play Jessica who is Bobby’s best friend. Bobby is the teenager that discovers what John Wayne Gacy is doing and when Bobby tries to tell me about what is happening, I try to give him advice on how to deal with the situation.
In “My Father’s Fiancée”, I play Jenny who is a child of divorce and is in between her parents. Then her father decides to let Jenny know that he has fallen in love and plans to marry another woman. What Jenny and everyone else doesn’t know is the woman is a killer who is only after his money. It is an action packed suspenseful story.
Your involvement in the humanitarian project “I See the Dream” for the World Food Programme showcases your commitment to social causes. Can you tell us more about your role in this project and why you need to use your platform for philanthropy?
“I See the Dream” is very close to my heart. As I have always felt no one should ever go hungry. The “I See The Dream” campaign was created to raise money for people who are hungry. Another cool thing about the campaign is that Ali Gatie and Massari a couple of musical artists, wrote and filmed a music video that I had the honor to be a part of. The video was also part of the campaign in 2018.
In addition to acting, you’ve ventured into music with a cover of “Jingle Bell Rock” released at the end of 2022. What inspired you to explore music, and can fans expect more musical endeavors from you in the future?
I have always been a huge music fan. Music brings so many different things to me. I started to sing covers while we were just in the car driving. I discovered that I wanted to sing for others. So I put together some of my friends who are dancers and we made the video “Jingle Bell Rock”. After that I found myself writing poems a lot to just express the way I was feeling. I then turned my poems into songs. I have several songs that will be released very soon. I am very excited to share my original music with everyone.
As a model, you’ve worked with various brands and graced the runways at NYFW. How does your experience in modeling complement your work as an actress, and do you have a favorite fashion moment or collaboration?
I think that my modeling and acting complement each other because with each of them there is exposure. What I mean by that is you get lots of exposure to a lot of different people. And all actors and models are hoping that they come across the right person at the right time.
Your passion for animals is evident, and you aspire to become a big animal vet. How did this passion develop, and can you share any memorable experiences from your work with the Shea Center Therapeutic Riding Center?
I have always been a huge animal lover. My two favorite animals are dogs and horses. I have two dogs of my own that are not just my pets but they are part of my family. I love that they love unconditionally. I have also gotten to work with horses at the Shea Center Therapeutic Riding Center. It was such a cool and amazing experience. I love how the horses are used to help people during their therapy. Such a great cause.
Dancing, surfing, baking, and horse riding are among your hobbies. How do these activities contribute to your well-being and creativity, and do you have a favorite among them?
These activities contribute to my well-being because it is what I find calming and relaxing. I am able to lose my thoughts and dive right into whichever one I am doing at that moment.
With a significant following on Instagram and TikTok, how do you use these platforms to connect with your fans, and what type of content do you enjoy creating the most?
I use my platforms to send positive messages to my following. I love to think that I can bring joy to someone who maybe just skimming through or having a bad day. I also like to show how grateful I am for all the events that I get to do. I show my appreciation for them with my post.
Looking ahead, are there any specific roles or projects you aspire to take on in the future, and what goals do you have for your career in the entertainment industry?
McNulty Production, Third Child Entertainment and my company Magic Camera Productions, are looking to make more movies. We are working on a new horror film and a Cheerleader movie, can’t give any details yet as we are in the early stages of planning. My goal is to produce movies through my production company with my friends. I am having a blast with the ones that we have already done. I love making movies and going through the process of post-production. To see the ending product and to say I did that is such an accomplishment that I am so proud
