‘Money by Sundown’ releases digitally on November 17
One Tree Entertainment is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of Money by Sundown, a fun-filled comedy full of suspense, twists and good ole southern charm. The film blends comedy, drama and action genres.
When kidnappers take her teenage daughter, a small town divorcée must team up with her good-for-nothing ex-husband to pull together the ransom money. Meet Tripp Holliday. He is charismatic, reckless and always convinced he has a plan. For Jessamine Holliday he is also the last person she wants to call. But with their daughter missing and kidnappers demanding $80,000 by sundown, desperation leaves little room for pride. With every new solution creating an even bigger problem, the pair navigate a wild mix of suspense, dark comedy and family dysfunction, proving that sometimes the people who drive us crazy are also the people we need most.
Claire Bronson stars, known for Mr. Mercedes, Bandit and Greenland. Burgess Jenkins co-stars, recognized from Blue Ridge: The Series, The Girl Who Believed in Miracles, The Young & the Restless and One Tree Hill. The lead performers bring experience from film and television projects.
Additional cast members include Matt Servitto, seen in Billions, The Alto Knights, The Sopranos and Compliance. Andi Marie Tillman, an acclaimed Appalachian comedian and musician, brings her significant social media following of 850,000 Instagram followers and 800,000 TikTok followers. Chapel Oaks and Brian Ashton Smith round out the ensemble.
Geoffrey Gunn wrote and directed the film. Having lived and worked in the South for over a decade, he wanted to capture the place he knew rather than the parody often seen on screen. He aimed to tell a fun story about larger-than-life schemers and dreamers, characters close to his heart as an artist. The end result is a bit of a tall tale, but as he has come to learn, all good Southern stories are.
