The ‘Broken Arrow’ film UK cinema release set for 27 February 2027

Central City Media has announced that its British comedy film The Broken Arrow will now be released in UK cinemas from 27 February 2027. The Friday 6 November announcement from London sets the new date for the British darts comedy. The film is slated for cinemas in the UK and Ireland.

The Broken Arrow features a cast including Sue Johnston from Ann Droid, Alan Ford from Snatch, Ste Johnston from No Offence and Chris Simmons from The Bill. The film is co-directed by Pablo Raybould of The Last Twitch alongside Chris Simmons who makes his directorial debut.

After his mentor’s death sends local darts champion Barry Barnes into a spiral of booze and self-destruction, a drunken accident costs him an arm. Now Barry must face his demons and take on his arch-rival “Darts Vader” for one last shot at glory.

Southend Film Festival Director Paul Cotgrove called it a sparkling new comedy. This warm-hearted British comedy in the spirit of The Full Monty arrives at a moment when darts has never been more culturally relevant.

Chris Simmons said whilst working on a TV show playing the villain for a year in a city he wasn't familiar with he found he had time on his hands. He would come into the show on his days off because he is a complete nerd sit with the directors pick their brains question their shot choice watch learn ask question after question after question. Within a few weeks he was hooked. He was going to direct something.

Fast forward 6 months he was having a pint in his local with a friend and he tells him he has a story in his head for a comedy feature film. Pablo came on board to write the script and co-direct. It had heart pathos deftness told through a working-class anti-hero. Now they needed money and talent. He teamed up with Charles Ledigo our executive producer to help raise the money and oversee the business side. One evening he mentioned that Sue Johnston lived up the road. He jumped out of his chair printed a copy of their script knocked on Sue's door gave her their script and said she would be perfect to play Mrs Barnes. His number is on the script and he apologised for knocking on her door.

Three days later he gets a call from Sue saying Your script's wonderful and very funny. I'm in. Boom we had our first bit of talent attached. It got him excited and they never looked back. Friends family Cliffe the village he lives in where they shot most of the film cast crew all turned up and out for them in a way he could never have expected. This movie has a big heart and is a 90-minute escape from the norm. Strap yaself in. I hope you enjoy.
