Ellen DeGeneres mean? All the celebs and staffers standing by her
Ellen DeGeneres being mean has been rumored in Hollywood for years and years. But 2020 is the year the bricks started falling as allegation after allegation dropped about Ellen DeGeneres and her mean streak. Between people who met Ellen outside of her show, to former employees being mistreated, there are a lot of different stories out there.
But just as people are coming forward with their stories about Ellen being mean, many of Ellen’s friends and co-workers are also coming forward to defend the host against the allegations. These friends are claiming that everyone has an off day, but Ellen overall is a kind person who tries to promote kindness. Who is standing by Ellen during all this?
Portia de Rossi
Not surprising, Ellen’s wife Portia is standing by her during all this. While the tabloids are reporting on divorce rumors between the two of them, Portia joined in on the #IStandByEllen tag on Instagram, posting a “Thank You” to those who were vocalizing their support for Ellen.
Stephen “tWitch” Boss
The in-house DJ and sidekick of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, tWitch couldn’t comment much on his experience with Ellen due to the internal investigation. But he did note “There’s been love and there will continue to be love.” He acknowledges though that “there’s some things to address,” in regards to the allegations.
Katy Perry
Katy has tweeted out saying she has never seen Ellen DeGeneres be mean, and only had positive experiences with the host. She doubled down on the tweet in an interview with Los Angeles Times, “I wanted to only speak from my own experience. I have over 100 million people that follow me on Twitter, so not everyone is going to agree with me. And I’m not here to make everyone agree with me.”
Ashton Kutcher
The actor also tweeted out in defense of the talk show host “[Ellen] & her team have only treated me & my team w/ respect & kindness.” Many have taken issue with his statement that Ellen “never pandered to celebrity,” as Kutcher himself is a celebrity so he wouldn’t know if she was mistreating her staff. He responded to this criticism on Twitter: “It extends to my team and people she didn’t even know I work with.”
Scooter Braun
Music manager Scooter, who’s no stranger to his own mean rumors, defended Ellen DeGeneres as well, tweeting she’s “a kind, thoughtful, courageous human being who stands for what is right and highlights on her show the best of us.” Scooter also called out those bashing Ellen. “People love to take shots at people. They love to see people fall.”
Diane Keaton
Sharing an image from a previous The Ellen DeGeneres Show appearance, Keaton chimed in on Instagram. “I ALWAYS ENJOYED MY VISITS TO THE ELLEN SHOW. I’VE SEEN HOW THE AUDIENCE EXUDES HAPPINESS AND GRATITUDE. SHE GIVES BACK TO SO MANY INCLUDING ME” she wrote in the caption.
Kevin Hart
Ellen DeGeneres raised eyebrows at the beginning of 2020 for defending Kevin for his homophobic tweets, so it’s no surprise he’s doing the same thing defending Ellen against ther mean allegations. Posting to Instagram, Kevin added “I can honestly say that she’s one of the dopest people on the f-ing planet.”
