LED Video Wall Tenders – Displaying Fantastic Growth
Introduction: An LED video wall is a large screen made of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to project images and videos. Unlike single monitors, these walls create a seamless and expansive visual canvas. There are three types of LED video walls – Indoor LED video walls, which is designed for indoor environment; Outdoor LED video wall, which is built to withstand various environmental conditions; and Versatile LED video walls, which is built with adaptive features to suit different lighting conditions and environmental factors. These are built for both indoor and outdoor purposes.
Government agencies in India are active purchaser of video walls. These video walls are used for conducting important presentations, video conferences and important events. Also, there are many large environments constructed by the government agencies such as, stadiums, auditoriums and studios where these video walls are used to communicate messages to a large audience. Just as it is in the private sector, online meetings have increased among the government agencies as well. This has created a significant demand for video walls within the government. Such video walls enable a senior government official to interact with all the district heads simultaneously or the Chief Minister or Prime Minister to conduct review meetings of the various departments located across a State or the country.
Yearly Analysis of LED Video Wall Tenders: The government agencies in India have increasingly invested in the installation of LED video wall to upgrade the infrastructure. During the last year, a total of 816 LED video wall tenders were published by the government agencies in India. Of these, the maximum number of tenders were published in the state of Gujarat at 76 tenders. Uttar Pradesh ranked second with 66 tenders, followed by West Bengal with 65 tenders. Among these 816 tenders, 176 tenders were published by the Indian Army, which is the top ranked agency in advertising most tenders last year in this regard. The Department of Roads and Buildings advertised 26 tenders and ranked second in the list.
Indoor LED Video Wall Tenders: Indoor LED video walls are often found in lobbies, conference halls and control rooms. They feature fine pixel pitches for close-up viewing. It is a very important system that is required in the defense sector for monitorization. Last year, 55 tenders for indoor LED video walls were published by the government agencies. Among these, 16 tenders were published by Indian Army. They published advertised tenders for the installation of indoor LED video walls in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttarakhand and 3 other states. The Airports Authority of India also advertised tenders for indoor LED video wall installation for CCTV monitorization and many purposes to empower airport security. They published 3 tenders, 2 in Odisha and 1 in Bihar for this purpose. Indoor LED video walls are used in Integrated Command and Control Center increasingly set-up by the government agencies across India for security monitoring.
Outdoor LED Video Wall Tenders: Outdoor LED video walls are usually used for digital billboards, sports arenas and outdoor events. They have higher brightness and larger pixel pitches to be visible even in direct sunlight. This system is often used by the government agencies to live telecast an event, or for advertisement purposes. In the previous year, 116 tenders by the government agencies for the installation of outdoor LED video walls. For example, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams in Andhra Pradesh published 4 tenders for true colour day and night visible fixed outdoor type LED video display systems for the live telecast of their events. Also, Indian Oil Corporation in Maharashtra released a tender for the installation of outdoor LED screen at Sabarmati Terminal. The outdoor LED video wall is often used in cities for the purpose of urbanization. For example, the Department of Urban Development in Uttar Pradesh advertised 5 tenders seeking for outdoor LED screen. Urban Development and Housing Department in Bihar published 2 tenders for outdoor advertisement LED screen display board.
Tenders in Education Sectors: Along with the defense sector, this system is very much in demand in the education sector as well. Education institutions are increasingly adopting LED video walls as teaching tools. These screens can be used in lecture halls to display interacting educational contents and making learning more engaging for students. This system helps in creating a more interactive and connected campus environment. Last year, 30 tenders were released by the education departments in this category. The Education Departments of Karnataka and Bihar advertised tenders for setting up of LED display system. The Department of Higher Education in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and other states also sought for this. Also, Medical Education Department of Uttar Pradesh advertised 3 tenders last year in this regard.
LED Video Wall Tender Contract Value: Though the estimate is not published for many of the tenders, in a few cases, the estimated tender value was published. The estimated value of most of the tenders in this category usually varies from Rs. 70 thousand up to Rs. 10 crores. For example, Municipalities of Andhra Pradesh published a tender with the estimated budget of Rs. 72.5 thousand. Whereas, Vadodara Mahanagar Seva Sadan published a tender for the installation of outdoor LED display infrastructure of worth around Rs. 10 crores. Though in the previous year, Public Works Department (PWD) published a tender for providing LED screens at various locations in Delhi. This estimated budget of this project was Rs. 294.82 crores. Hence, there are some exceptions depending on the expenditure of the project. Otherwise, the estimate fluctuates between the previous mentioned amount depending up on the requirements.
Live Tender Analysis: As of March 12, 2024, there were 29 live tenders for LED video walls. Among these, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha ranked top together with 5 tenders each. Followed by West Bengal with 4 tenders as shown in the graph below. Until March 13, 2024, the State government agencies and the Public Sector Undertakings have published 109 LED display tenders and LED Video Wall tenders.
Conclusion: The above analysis showed that there is a significant demand of LED video wall system among government agencies. The demand for such systems is increasing as the government invests in digitization. The giant screens are often set up to telecast many important international or national level event. This system has made it easier for the government officials to coordinate their work internally and to publicize key information to the larger public. Our study shows that the government agencies have been investing in the installation of LED video walls in large scale. This opens up a vast opportunity for the electronic companies in India. They must take efforts to keep track of LED tenders in India and make an effort to win these.
