He participated in India A’s tour of South Africa in August 2013 as a player. In the triangular series against South Africa A and Australia A, he maintained his strong play. In the last group match of the series in Pretoria, where the victor would face Australia A in the final, he scored 248 runs off 150 balls against South Africa A to establish the second-highest List A innings of all time.
His innings, which featured 30 fours and seven sixes, assisted India A in posting 433/3 and winning the game by 39 runs.
