Looking to celebrate Pride? Join these great virtual parades this June
Pride month is here and we are . . . still stuck indoors. But never fear! The parade will go on as virtual celebrations for the month of all things queer have been organized and are ready to launch!
Even though we won’t get to be there in person, dressed in our best rainbow attire, we can still join in the spirit of Pride and celebrate with our queer brothers & sisters.
This year is the 50th anniversary of Pride tradition in the US so let’s pull out all the stops and make it a good one! Here are just a few virtual celebrations that will be held this June in honor of Pride. 🌈
Global Pride 2020
This twenty-four hour live stream on June 27 is expected to attract over 300 million viewers. The event will cast segments from all over the world and feature acts like the Dixie Chicks as well as appearances by icons like Olivia Newton-John & Deborah Cox.
Involved with the planning are InterPride and the European Pride Organizers so the expectations for this event are high. The Global Pride 2020 celebration can be viewed at globalpride2020.org.
New York City Pride
This year’s 50th NYC Pride parade will be in honor of the front-line healthcare workers battling the coronavirus pandemic. Dan Levy from Schitt’s Creek, The Ali Forney Center, Yanzi Peng, and Victoria Cruz are acting as the marshals for the June 28 celebration.
The parade will also feature highly anticipated performances by Janelle Monáe, Billy Porter, and Deborah Cox. Anyone wanting to join in NYC Pride can catch it streaming on ABC News Live from noon to 2p.m. EST.
Dragfest 2020
Dragfest, a celebration hosted by drag artist and NYC Council candidate Marti G. Cummings, will feature the talents of over a hundred of the most famous drag performers including Honey Davenport & Jan Sport.
The three day event, spanning from June 19 to 21, will raise money for local drag organizations. The celebration will stream NYC Pride and GLAAD’s Facebook pages.
Cincinnati Black Pride
This Pride celebration will include events like the Black Alphabet Film Festival which features projects by & about people from the Black & queer communities. The Vizazi Torch Awards will also be apart of this event and will honor Cincinnati residents working to improve the lives of queer & Black people in the city.

Out Now Live
Hosted by the queer digital outlet Them, Out Now Live is a curated streaming series featuring musical acts like Princess Nokia, Tegan & Sara, and Hayley Kiyoko. Anyone watching can also expect appearances by Whoopi Goldberg, Cynthia Nixon, and Niamo Campbell. To see the series tune into Them’s Instagram or YouTube page on June 22.
Beyond the Shelter
This benefit concert will raise funds for New Alternatives, an organization that offers services to queer youths such as HIV prevention training, educational training, and food & hygiene necessities.
The show will include performances from Tituss Burgess (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Alex Newell (Glee), and Lauren Patten (Jagged Little Pill). More information can be found at newalternativesnyc.org.
