Leeds University rentals, a round-up of where international students see the Chinese food scene!
Zen Rendezvous is a famous local Cantonese restaurant in Leeds, frequented by many foreigners, and for the Chinese people, Cantonese food is also the first choice for a lighter stomach, especially the congee and soup casserole. If you want to eat Cantonese food in Leeds, this restaurant is definitely the first choice, and I highly recommend the chicken with pepper salt and the duck with plum sauce. There are many repeat customers as new dishes are introduced every time we visit. The downside of this restaurant is probably the drinks, which can be bought for a few quid in the supermarket for £20 a bottle. So, just eat the food, which is reasonably priced, and don’t order the wine.
Top1: Red Chilli
Address: 619-621 Roundhay Road, Oakwood, Leeds LS8 4AR, England
This restaurant is not really a Chinese restaurant, but rather an Asian restaurant, with Thai food in addition to Chinese. For Chinese food, I recommend the crispy pork ribs, which are really fragrant and crispy, smelling good and tasting crispy, as a meatless eater, this dish is simply tailor-made, but I often criticise the chef of this restaurant, who is not very stable, sometimes the crispness is just right, sometimes it’s a bit too deep-fried, and it’s not good if it’s hard, so the taste buds should be lucky.
Thai curry and student accommodation in Leeds are recommended. The curry is very authentic, with a very rich flavour, and the chicken is very tender and refreshing. The dishes are generally expensive and many people have complained that they are too expensive after eating them.
Top 2: Bulgogi Grill
Address: The Arena Quarter, 9 Merrion Way, Leeds LS2 8BT, England
This is a restaurant that combines Chinese, BBQ and Korean cuisine, but I would like to recommend the BBQ buffet, as I have been abroad for a long time and I really crave BBQ.
Eating barbecue is actually a great way to enjoy the process of preparing your own food, with a few friends, grilling and eating at the same time, with a cold beer, especially in the summer, it’s really refreshing. But you have to be careful when choosing a barbecue, I never eat barbecue when I go out to eat alone, I am a handicapped party, I always get a paste, or I am still a bit raw and not grilled, it is always a laugh. Besides, a barbecue is something you need to eat with a large group of people to have an atmosphere.
Top3: Crown Buffet
Address: Gower Street, Leeds LS2 7PX, England
This restaurant is located in the middle of nowhere, on the edge of town in leeds student accommodation, and my friend and I found it by chance.
The restaurant is more like a Chinese fast food restaurant, specialising in Cantonese cuisine. The food is pre-fried and you can just order it straight away, but of course, you can also order it to-go, but it’s a little more expensive. They also serve Peking duck, but the pancakes are not very good and a bit thick. However, the mabo tofu is good and well seasoned, but the tofu is a bit strange, so I guess there is still a difference between tofu in a foreign country and back home.
