Global Digital Releasing Acquires Worldwide Rights to, “Women Like Us”
Global Digital Releasing has teamed up with writer / director Sally Colón-Petree to release the award-winning documentary film, “Women Like Us”.
“Women Like Us” follows director Colón-Petree, as she travels across the vibrant landscapes of Africa and the U.S, to engage in profound conversations with extraordinary women who are pioneering change in critical spheres such as sex trafficking, female genital mutilation, homelessness, teen suicide and more. “Women Like Us” promises an unforgettable cinematic odyssey that will leave audiences energized, enlightened, and empowered. Featuring an ensemble cast of influential voices, “Women Like Us” boasts appearances by the dynamic actress/comedian, Sherri Shepherd, serving as an executive producer, alongside the visionary former executive producer of “The Oprah Winfrey Show”, Dianne Hudson, and motivational powerhouse, Tim Storey. Colón-Petree shared her thoughts about making the film:
“My primary goal as a director was to illuminate the grave injustices faced by women globally. My attitude was, I’m not going to wait for someone else to do it, I’m going to be the one that does it. I sought to evoke a sense of awareness and empathy in viewers, stirring them to become catalysts for change within their own communities. The journey of creating this film spanned over three years, presenting challenges such as securing funding, identifying compelling stories, and meticulously crafting the narrative in the editing process. Collaborating with the courageous women featured in the documentary was transformative. Their stories are not just told; they’re honored in this film.”

The film debuted theatrically in 2018 in over 50 theaters across the U.S. GDR has set the digital release date for April 26th, 2024.
