Variety reports that Constantin Film and Sony Pictures' horror reboot Resident Evil held first place at the mainland China box office over the Oct. 16–18 weekend.

The film took in RMB62.5 million ($9.3 million) during its second full weekend amid the subdued post-holiday period as local titles wind down.
