How ‘Beats for Change’ is getting voters moving to the Ballot Lines

Dance Music for Democracy (DM4D) has officially launched with a mission to unite the energy of the electronic dance music (EDM) scene with the vital task of voter registration. Targeting legions of EDM fans, DM4D is on a mission to get young people to the polls and boost electoral participation in the upcoming elections.

A Los Angeles-based, non-partisan non-profit organization, DM4D is dedicated to amplifying voices in the voting booths—just as EDM amplifies the beats that move us all. The initiative kicks off with its flagship event, Beats for Change, on October 16 at The Mint, Los Angeles, featuring live sets from EDM icons DJ Kristina Sky, DJ Karmå, and Vassal States. The night will also honor the late DJ Danny Stubbs with a special tribute, ensuring the event is charged with both music and meaning. The celebrity-studded launch will have appearances from industry talents like cinematographer Akis Konstantakopoulos, actress Rosanna Arquette, and DJ Kristina Sky, among many others.

Partnering with HeadCount, a leader in voter registration efforts, attendees can register both online and at the event, making sure the energy of the night translates into tangible action at the polls.

Dance for democracy night

With live performances, digital outreach, and grassroots efforts, they hope to ignite a wave of civic responsibility among dance music lovers across the nation.

Unleash the rhythm magic

The DM4D Board is stacked with talent and power players, each bringing their own flavor to the mix. Leading the charge alongside Greg Sims is financial wizard Nick Mayberry, a business advisor and entrepreneur who’s helped giants like Adobe, Google, and Credit Karma. But don’t let the corporate credentials fool you—Mayberry’s all about the beats. His go-to DJs? Aluna, D.O.D, Sonny Fodera, Tensnake, and The Blessed Madonna. Talk about taste!

And then there’s Art Cisneros, the legendary tour manager who’s practically been on tour with everyone. We’re talking Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow, Jane’s Addiction, The Go-Go’s, and Van Halen’s very own David Lee Roth. With a resume like that, Cisneros clearly knows how to get the party started—and his favorite DJ lineup proves it: Alesso, Calvin Harris, Avicii, and Zedd. No wonder he’s on board!

Film executive Brett Leitner brings some serious cred too, having worked with New Line Cinema and HBO before heading distribution at Music Choice. And while he admits to being a bit “old school,” don’t be surprised if you catch him jamming out to DJ Jellybean Benitez or Avicii. Rounding out the crew is actor and broadcaster Roger Rose, a scion of the famous Rose family who’s got entertainment in his blood. With this team at the helm, DM4D is ready to hit the ground running and get those beats—and voters—pumping!
