Croatia: Vacation without mass tourism

Whether for young or old – Croatia is an extremely popular vacation destination, which nevertheless lacks the unpleasant mass tourism even today. Thus, large hotel complexes in Croatia are rather rare to find, but all the more cozy cottages, apartments and small pensions. 

The port city of Dubrovnik

The breathtakingly beautiful port city of Dubrovnik is located in the south of the country. In the port of the city there are countless luxurious yachts to admire, which makes it clear that the glamour factor of Croatia is not to be underestimated. 

In Croatia, Dubrovnik is considered the cultural center and thus offers numerous sights, such as the impressive Lovrijenac Fortress or the lively old town. Dubrovnik is the ideal destination to combine an exciting city trip with a relaxing beach vacation. 

Not to be missed in Dubrovnik is a visit to the city wall in the old town, which dates back to the Middle Ages and is the landmark of the city. From there, an unforgettable view of the crystal clear blue sea and the entire old town opens up. 

The capital Split

Split can be reached from Dubrovnik in about 2.5 hours by car – and that via an impressive route that runs directly along the coast and thus offers breathtaking views. Like Dubrovnik, Split represents another cultural highlight in Croatia. 

Although it is not official, Split is considered the second largest city in the country as the capital of Dalmatia. The old town of Split is beautiful and has numerous sights to offer. In this context, a visit to Diocletian’s Palace, for example, is recommended. In addition, Game of Thrones fans will also get their money’s worth, because Split is one of the most famous filming locations of the hit series. 

The island of Brac

The island of Brac can be reached in a short time from Split. It is especially popular with nature-loving vacationers and sun worshippers. Hiking fans should, for example, climb the highest mountain of the islands of Croatia, the Vidova Gora with a height of 778 meters. Once at the top, the climb is rewarded by a fantastic view over the Adriatic Sea. 

The Golden Horn is also home to a beach that is considered the most spectacular in the entire Mediterranean. 

Hvar – The island of celebrities

The island of Hvar shows itself as extremely luxurious and belongs to the sunniest and most beautiful of the Croatian islands. 

So it is hardly surprising that also numerous celebrities can be found on Hvar, after all the wonderful beaches, the deep green landscapes and the crystal clear water represent the perfect conditions for an unforgettable stay. Hvar is also famous for its sprawling lavender fields, which provide a heavenly fragrance experience.
