Guide to Modafinil
Finding tactics and tools that have a significant impact with little effort is at the heart of biohacking. If there is any difference between them, call it enlightened laziness or the never-ending search for personal perfection. It’s time to write about Modafinil, the performance-enhancing smart medication that, at the very least, belongs in your bag of biohacker techniques.
This essay includes first-hand accounts from users as well as an interview with a biomedical engineer who, like myself, has been using Modafinil for a long period. Warnings can be found at the end of the article.
What exactly is modafinil?
Modafinil, sometimes known as a nootropic, is a smart drug. It improves your mental abilities in a variety of ways. There are several smart medications on the market, but modafinil stands out for several reasons:
It isn’t a stimulant in any way. Modafinil behaves like a stimulant, but it’s a eugeroic, which means it promotes wakefulness. Unlike most typical stimulants, it does not make you jittery or sped up. Modafinil, unlike many other smart drugs, does not induce a crash or withdrawal.
Modafinil is a member of the central nervous system (CNS) stimulant class of drugs. It keeps you awake by stimulating certain areas of your brain. It is used to aid persons with narcolepsy, a disorder that causes excessive sleepiness during the day, by avoiding drowsiness and keeping them from falling asleep.
It’s also used to help persons with obstructive sleep apnea or hypopnea syndrome (breathing problems that occur while sleeping), shift-work sleep disorder, or circadian rhythm sleep disorder sleep less during the day.
- It isn’t a habit-forming substance.
- It is very safe with no side effects
