Mario is also the best selling video game franchise in the world, with over 600 million units sold. Puzzle games, fighting games, clothing, and collectible items, have all been sold because of how likable Mario became. The 10th of March has been celebrated as Mario Day. Nintendo celebrates the date by organizing Mario-related events and placing higher importance on promoting the Mario franchise.
