‘Cat in the Hat’ movie is overstuffed like a Marvel movie for tots
According to Variety, the new "Cat in the Hat" makes no attempt to be a faithful adaptation of Dr. Seuss’s most fabled books, as that would simply be too quaint for the buzzy, mercurial, attention-crashing, video-games-on-Ritalin era.
With a corporate diligence that’s the opposite of free-spirited, the movie mimics the scale and spirit and plot setups of too many familiar blockbusters even while departing all too eagerly from the innocent wildness of the Seuss books.
Bill Hader leads the film, which Variety describes as a mish-mosh of pop recycling.
