ICPO Academy starts new advanced RPO Level II program

On November 2, 2026, the ICPO Academy for Theranostics announced the launch of RPO Level II in Wiesbaden. The move responds to rapid growth in radiomolecular precision oncology, also called theranostics, and rising demand for advanced clinical expertise together with interdisciplinary medical education.

The new program extends the existing basic curriculum by adding deeper clinical knowledge focused on prostate cancer and neuroendocrine tumors. It incorporates practical case analyses and interdisciplinary tumor board discussions to strengthen real-world decision-making skills.

Prof. Rodney Hicks from Melbourne, Australia, has been appointed scientific and professional director of the advanced program. He brings decades of scientific and clinical experience in theranostics to guide the curriculum.

Prof. Richard P. Baum, President of the ICPO Academy for Theranostics, stated: “Bildung ist der Grundstein für Exzellenz in Theranostics.

Participants gain direct exposure to international multidisciplinary tumor boards representing four world regions. Experts from Europe (Prof. Ken Herrmann and colleagues at Universitätsklinikum Essen and EOC – Università della Svizzera italiana), the Middle East (Prof. Akram Al-Ibraheem and colleagues at King Hussein Cancer Center, Jordan), Australia (Prof. Grace Kong and colleagues at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre), and Latin America (Dr. Danny Mena Cortes and colleagues at UroTeragLATAM) lead sessions. Learners practice case preparation, presentation, and active participation across differing health systems.

The ICPO Academy for Theranostics was founded in October 2023 by the International Centers for Precision Oncology Foundation, which itself was established in 2019. Its mission is to advance theranostics worldwide and improve outcomes for cancer patients. The Foundation maintains a global network of approximately 100 accredited centers that support standardized education, clinical excellence, and international collaboration. The Academy delivers certified basic and advanced programs for interdisciplinary theranostics teams, including clinicians, researchers, physicists, radiochemists, nurses, and technologists.
