ICPO Academy launches advanced theranostics program

On November 2, 2026, the ICPO Academy for Theranostics announced the launch of Level II of its Radiomolecular Precision Oncology Pillar. This development addresses the rapid evolution of theranostics, creating a growing need for advanced clinical expertise and multidisciplinary education to improve global patient outcomes. The academy, established in October 2023 by the International Centers for Precision Oncology Foundation, aims to advance theranostics care worldwide.

Level II adds advanced clinical knowledge in prostate cancer and neuroendocrine tumors. Prof. Rodney Hicks from Melbourne, Australia, leads this component and contributes his extensive scientific and clinical expertise to the curriculum.

The program features multidisciplinary tumor board education built on real-world clinical cases and regional perspectives from four world regions. Participants examine how tumor boards function, prepare and present cases, and contribute to decisions across varied healthcare settings. Europe is represented by Prof. Ken Herrmann and colleagues from University Hospital Essen, Germany, and EOC-Universita della Svizzera Italiana, Switzerland. The Middle East contribution comes from Prof. Akram Al-Ibraheem and colleagues at King Hussein Cancer Center, Jordan. Australia is covered by Prof. Grace Kong and colleagues from Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. Latin America is represented by Dr. Danny Mena Cortes and colleagues from UroTeragLATAM.

Prof. Richard P. Baum, President of the ICPO Academy for Theranostics, stated that education is the cornerstone of excellence in theranostics and that RPO Level II gives physicians expertise to convert scientific advances into better worldwide cancer care. Prof. Rodney Hicks, Lead Faculty, explained that successful theranostics treatment requires close collaboration between nuclear medicine and other disciplines, which the program strengthens by combining advanced knowledge with practical multidisciplinary tumor board education.

CEO Odile Jaume of the ICPO Foundation thanked Prof. Rodney Hicks, Prof. Richard P. Baum, and all multidisciplinary tumor board leaders for their dedication and contributions that enabled the program through international collaboration. The ICPO Academy for Theranostics was established in October 2023 by the International Centers for Precision Oncology Foundation to advance theranostics care globally.

Academy materials indicate that the program is accredited by the European Union of Medical Specialists and the American Medical Association, with UEMS-EACCME certification ensuring internationally recognized CME credits upon completion. The curriculum features more than 75 videos from over 50 experts in more than 10 languages. It targets clinicians, researchers, physicists, radiochemists, technologists, and nurses seeking to integrate radiomolecular precision oncology into patient care, with each unit lasting about 45 minutes and containing 2 to 3 teaching videos of 10 to 15 minutes.
