Neil Young, Carole King on ‘Fight Oligarchy’ album out February 26
Ahead of the mid-term election, SoundsGood Records announces the Take America Back: The Fight Oligarchy Album for February 26, 2027. Proceeds will go directly to nonprofits fighting corruption and corporate influence to keep government accountable to people rather than billionaires.
Listeners can obtain the album on compact disc, vinyl and digital download, though it will not appear on any streaming platforms. The nineteen-track compilation incorporates released recordings, unreleased material and original tracks created for the project.
Featured artists include Carole King, Maggie Rogers, Neil Young and Steve Earle. Caleb Wilson remarked that these artists refused to look away in their careers and contributed songs to democracy's fight at the right time. The album captures the moment as something tangible to hold, a record in every sense.
Maggie Rogers spoke about the project and her tour appearance in Los Angeles, stating she has always believed in music's power to bring people together. The recordings represent voices united on that April day to reinforce the right to a more just and equitable future.
George Drabing Hicks mixed and sequenced the album while Ryan Schwabe mastered it. Kii Arens created the artwork. Arens stated that creating art for a cause like this is the very least he can do because art should open eyes, stir hearts and inspire change, not just decorate walls, and he will stand behind the fight against oligarchy.
As the fight over billionaire power, corruption and affordability shapes the closing days of the midterms, the release captures this political moment. Progressive candidates carry an economic populist message into battleground races. These artists give cultural expression to questions of who holds power, whose work creates wealth and who decides the future. Bringing together musicians whose audiences span generations, the project connects longstanding traditions of challenging authority with younger listeners confronting economic insecurity and political disillusionment.
The album ties to the Fighting Oligarchy Tour and features its artists plus sympathizers, honoring the movement. It draws on the legacy of folk, punk and protest music that raises awareness and brings people into political life through political songs and those voicing everyday struggles. Caleb Wilson said culture shapes public opinion on what is possible in politics and policy, with music helping people connect and imagine alternatives. This record offers a tangible artifact of the moment.
