Nevada tops most paranoid states for relationship anxiety
VIP-Grinders examined Google search volumes for relationship concerns across all fifty states. The study compared these figures to six other worry categories and found relationship queries substantially outpaced those tied to artificial intelligence or gambling at the national level.
Nevada recorded the highest rate at 814.9 relationship searches per 100,000 residents each month, equating to 25,300 monthly searches and 303,600 annually. South Carolina placed second with 792.2 searches per 100,000 residents, producing 40,550 monthly searches and 486,600 annually. New Hampshire ranked third at 787.6 searches per 100,000 residents, generating 10,850 monthly searches and 130,200 annually.
Vermont followed in fourth place with 769.7 searches per 100,000 residents, 4,950 monthly searches and 59,400 annually. California ranked fifth at 761.8 per 100,000, with 301,200 monthly searches and 3,614,400 annually. Illinois came sixth at 755.9 per 100,000, recording 96,850 monthly searches and 1,162,200 annually. Alaska placed seventh at 736.3 per 100,000, with 5,400 monthly searches and 64,800 annually. Minnesota ranked eighth at 718.5 per 100,000, producing 41,000 monthly searches and 492,000 annually. Colorado took ninth at 711.8 per 100,000, with 41,100 monthly searches and 493,200 annually. North Dakota finished tenth at 693.1 per 100,000, matching Alaska with 5,400 monthly searches and 64,800 annually.
In Nevada the leading terms included gaslighting, love bombing, manipulation and insecurity, each drawing roughly 5,000 searches per month. South Carolina residents searched heavily for gaslighting, betrayal, infidelity and love bombing. New Hampshire showed strong interest in gaslighting as a prominent term.
The findings coincide with the start of cuffing season. With 82 percent of people having encountered damaging partner behaviors such as cheating, gaslighting, ghosting or love bombing, many Americans consult Google about relationship difficulties.
Researchers used Google Ads Keyword Planner to compile roughly fifty terms across seven categories: health, financial, relationship, personal security, workplace, AI and gambling. State-level volumes were aggregated and divided by the latest U.S. Census population figures to yield rates per 100,000 residents. National yearly totals were derived by multiplying monthly volumes by twelve. The planner rounds volumes, so state figures are indicative and not intended to sum exactly to national totals.
Across all categories Americans conducted 64.8 million paranoia-related searches annually, or about 177,424 per day. Health queries dominated at 37.3 million yearly, more than every other category combined. Financial searches reached 8.6 million, relationship searches 6.2 million, personal security 5.8 million and workplace 5.4 million. AI searches totaled 1.1 million while gambling searches stood at 426,360. The release stated Americans are nearly seven times more paranoid about relationships than about AI and nearly twenty times more paranoid than about gambling.
