Indonesian zombie franchise ‘Zona Merah: Dead City’ unveils first teaser

The first teaser for Zona Merah: Dead City has been released, according to Variety. The film expands the zombie outbreak from the Vidio series into urban settings including city streets, malls, and an airport. Screenplay Films is billing the project as the largest zombie production Indonesia has ever mounted.

The film is slated for Indonesian theaters on January 14, 2027, Variety reports. Directors Sidharta Tata and Fajar Martha Santosa return, with Tata also writing the script. Barunson E&A handles international sales.

Returning cast members include Aghniny Haque, Andri Mashadi, Devano, Maria Theodore, and Lukman Sardi. New additions are Bryan Domani, Shindy Huang, Myesha Lin, Derby Romero, and Luna Maya, who also serves as executive producer, per Variety.

The original series has accumulated more than 34 million views, Variety reports.
