The Top 3 Best Gambling Movies
For one reason or another, gambling is very rarely ever featured in films, let alone the sole focus.
Furthermore, for many people, this can be somewhat disappointing. There are millions of gambling fans all over the world, and it certainly wouldn’t hurt to have a few more movies focused on our favourite subject.
However, that’s not to say that there aren’t any good gambling and casino movies out there.
In this article, we will be telling you the 3 best movies about gambling that you can watch right now, as well as giving you a little info about each in the chance that any of them peak your interest.
Casino Royale
Perhaps the most popular gambling movie on this list, Casino Royale is one of the few movies about gambling that happened to make it into the mainstream.
Even though Casino Royale isn’t primarily a film about gambling, it is a subject that is explored pretty deeply throughout, and it certainly has its fair share of scenes where gambling is the focal point.
Sure, it may not showcase all of the games that would be available from any top online casino, but for what it is, there is more than enough gambling in Casino Royale to make any casino-lover happy.
If you haven’t heard or watched Casino Royale, then you will more than likely be happy to know that the main protagonist is James Bond – who happens to be played by Daniel Craig.
So, as you can imagine, not only is this movie filled with more than enough gambling scenes to keep even the veteran player happy, it is also jam-packed with extraordinary action scenes throughout.
That goes without mentioning the relatively engaging story/narrative that will keep you captivated for the whole of its run time, something which will be more than reflected in almost every Casino Royale review.
If you have yet to give this one a try, we would highly recommend it, and if you do decide to give Casino Royale a go, you will have an exciting night waiting ahead of you.
Rounders
Similar to our first entry, Rounders also features an A-list actor who plays the protagonist, with Matt Damon being front and centre in almost every scene.
As opposed to the vast majority of other gambling movies out there, Rounders takes a much more light-hearted approach to the topic, telling a tale about a student gambling away his tuition and almost losing everything only to remain happy at the end of the movie despite all odds.
If you are just looking for something a little more light-hearted/on the nose, then Rounders will be an amazing choice, and there are very few movies out there that attempt to take a similar approach to gambling as Rounders does.
Moreover, if you take a look at any Rounders review, said reviewer in question will more than likely have come up with the same conclusion – that being that Rounders is just a fun light-hearted movie that is surprisingly unique.
All-in-all, you can’t really go wrong with rounders, and if you have yet to see this extraordinary movie, you should give it a shot.
Hard Eight
If you are searching for a movie that isn’t afraid to show some of the more negative aspects of gambling, then Hard Eight would be right up your alley.
Hard Eight is centred around a protagonist who loses all of his money gambling, only to find a friend in his time of need who shows him the ropes and turns him into a gambling prodigy.
However, shortly after, said protagonist would only go to lose his fortune once again, and it is at this point where things begin to get a little complicated.
The story of Hard Eight is truly captivating, and if you are looking for a movie that won’t allow you to take your eyes off the screen, then this one would be an excellent choice.
All of the moves we mentioned within this list portray different aspects of gambling. Some positive, others not so much.
However, either way, there is no doubt that all of the films are at least able to give you some quality entertainment for a few hours. Who knows, you might even learn a thing or two about gambling that you didn’t know before.
Gambling often gets the bad end of the stick when it comes to its portrayal in media, and while this might have some merit in certain situations, it forgets to mention the millions of gambling fans from around the globe that just love to kick back and play their favourite game for a few hours.
Luckily, the three movies we mentioned manage to give a slight respite from this all-too-common problem, and we hope you have a good evening watching them.
