The Orian Rose Trio EP “A New Spirit” Released on Global Lev Music, LLC
The new Orian Rose trio EP “A New Spirit” is officially out on Global Lev Music, LLC record label.
Global Lev Music, LLC brings established industry experience to the release, as the label behind Sheva’s international release “Salaam,” written by Mosh Ben Ari, which gained widespread visibility through its inclusion in the film World War Z. Rather than over-processing the music in post-production, the label opted to let Rose capture his trio live in the room, documenting the music with an accompanying series of studio videos that highlight the real-time interaction of the players.
Orian Rosenzweig (aka Orian Rose) leads the album from behind the drums alongside pianist Moshe Elmakias and double bassist Bar Filipowicz. This is a working band that developed its reflexes on stage. Beyond regular appearances across the New York metropolitan jazz circuit such as Shrine and Ornitology, the trio has performed regionally at venues like the Timucua Arts Foundation Jazz Series in Orlando, Florida. That live mileage translates directly to the recording. When Elmakias stretches out during a solo, pushing his harmonic phrasing across the bar lines, Filipowicz and Rose respond instantly without losing the underlying pulse.
As a composer, Rose writes with a dedicated focus on melody and open space. While drummer-led projects can occasionally lean toward overcomplicated rhythmic exercises, and indeed the performances are virtuoso in nature, Rose manages to keep his arrangements grounded and lyrical. His touch on the kit is sharp and conversational. He uses subtle ghost notes and warm cymbal work to build a rich texture underneath the piano, keeping his timekeeping crisp and firmly inside the pocket.
The record reflects the breadth of Rose’s wider professional background. He spent the summer of 2025 on a comprehensive North American tour as the lead drummer for Israeli pop artist Eden Golan. At the same time, his indie pop band lomipo has gained steady traction, surpassing two million streams worldwide on the strength of their modern alternative songwriting.
That pop influence informs his acoustic trio playing. The experience of anchoring demanding large-scale pop shows brings a distinct sense of pacing to a jazz recording. Rose demonstrates a clear understanding of song architecture, knowing when to hold down a steady groove, when to let a quiet moment linger, and when to let the ensemble hit a dynamic peak. The result is a beautifully tracked acoustic session that respects the jazz tradition while offering memorable melodies that endure beyond the performance, and pushes the boundaries of modern jazz.
Orian Rose’s A New Spirit offers a compelling look at the modern trio format. You can find the EP on all streaming platforms here: A New Spirit
