Tyler Gallant, Josh Murray and Victoria Sophia join cast of Sean McEwen’s ‘Turnbuckle

The cast of Sean McEwen’s upcoming indie action dramedy Turnbuckle continues to grow, with Tyler Gallant, Josh Murray and Victoria Sophia joining the feature following the completion of principal photography in Arkansas.

Gallant, known for Bring the Law, Maserati: The Brothers and Find Your Friends, joins Murray (Inheritance, Gym Rat) and Sophia (Eyes in the Trees) in the production, which boasts one of the most notable ensemble casts currently assembled in the independent film space.

The trio joins previously announced stars Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild), Kate Beckinsale (Underworld), Terrence Howard (Hustle & Flow), Evan Ross (The Hunger Games), Cara Delevingne (Suicide Squad) and Famke Janssen (Boy Kills World). Additional cast members include Macy Gray, Sam Strike, Lily Mo Sheen, Randall J. Bacon and Tammin Sursok.

New talent fuels indie buzz

Written and directed by McEwen, Turnbuckle is being billed as a darkly comic Southern story centered on themes of redemption, survival and small-town chaos. While plot details remain tightly guarded, the project has already generated industry attention thanks to its blend of established stars and rising talent.

Production was led by Ross and Greg Carney under their Film Mafia Entertainment banner alongside Daemon Hillin of Hillin Entertainment, Ryan R. Johnson, Sprockefellar Pictures and Mia Chang of Tunnel Post. Executive producers include Mira Pak Howard, Terrence Howard and Alexander Foard.

Speaking previously about the project, Ross described Turnbuckle as “one of those rare films that feels both dangerous and elevated,” praising both the cast and the Arkansas filming locations that served as the backdrop for the production.

Agents rally around rising stars

For Gallant, Murray and Sophia, the casting marks another significant step forward as they join a film that is shaping up to be one of the more closely watched independent releases currently in post-production.
