Ken Davitian: The Unstoppable Force in Flim and Television
Ken Davitian’s career in the entertainment industry is a tale of versatility and depth, spanning from comedic gems like his role in “Borat” to more intense performances in the “Mister Mayfair Trilogy” by Philippe Martinez. His portrayal of Azamat Bagatov in “Borat” alongside Sacha Baron Cohen brought him international recognition and opened doors to a variety of significant roles. He now shines in the crime drama “Mister Mayfair Trilogy,” acting alongside Steven Bauer and Armand Assante.
Davitian’s journey into acting was seeded in East Los Angeles, where he grew up. His high school theater experiences, coupled with the influence of his grandmother, Sonya Logian, an actress, and VergineKalantarian-Mamoulian, set the stage for his acting career. Kalantarian-Mamoulian, a prominent figure in the American-Armenian theater scene and mother of director Ruben Mamoulian, Ken was about 14 years old when he first encountered Ruben Mamoulian’s mother, during a time when his grandmother was performing in a play at the Wilshire Theater. The family gathered to welcome her at their home, lining up to greet her. It was then that Ken first noticed someone draping their jacket over their shoulders, a style embodied by this formidable woman. Her presence was indeed commanding. which left a lasting impression on Ken during his youth. After graduating from East Los Angeles College with a wealth of theatrical experience, Ken initially supported his family’s thriving trash business in Los Angeles. This venture indirectly led to him obtaining his SAG card and a chance to debut in Albert Brooks’ “Real Life,” though his role was eventually cut. He later got his first credited role in “Sons of Sassoun,” a poignant drama about the Armenian genocide featuring Lana Wood.
Davitian’s film appearances display his ability to adapt to a wide range of roles, including notable performances in “Get Smart,” “S.W.A.T.,” and “The Artist.” His television credits are equally diverse, with roles in popular series such as “Ray Donovan,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”
Apart from acting, Davitian has explored entrepreneurship. He previously managed the renowned Hollywood eatery “The Dip” and co-founded Coin Flicks, a cryptocurrency initiative aimed at supporting independent filmmakers.
