Looking to stream ‘The Little Things’? Here’s where to watch the movie
If you like thriller movies, Denzel Washington, and/or Rami Malek then The Little Things is probably on your must-watch list – if it isn’t, you should add it.
The thriller movie about hunting down a serial killer stars Denzel Washington, Rami Malek, and Jared Leto. Here’s everything you need to know about The Little Things and how to watch it as soon as possible.
About the movie
The movie was written and directed by John Lee Hancock who is also known for movies like The Blind Side and Saving Mr. Banks. The Little Things has a runtime of two hours and seven minutes.
The movie follows the story of two cops (Washington & Malek) hunting down a serial killer. The trailer appears to imply that despite being the younger of the duo Malek’s character is a detective and Washington’s is still a patrolman.
The trailer is dark (figuratively & literally). It also seems to give away some major plot points so you can probably bail halfway through the trailer if it seems like the kind of movie you enjoy. The second half of it won’t be any better at convincing you and might spoil your movie watching experience.
How to watch it
If you want to watch The Little Things you have two choices. If you’re brave enough (or already vaccinated) you can go to a movie theater and watch a showing. However, this may not be the easiest choice – The Little Things appears to have had a limited release. This means that it’s only available in select theaters. With many theaters still shut down it might be slightly difficult to find a nearby showing.
Luckily, there’s an alternative. The Little Things was released to HBO Max on January 29, the same day it hit theaters. This means that you can watch this thriller from the comfort of your own home without wearing a mask or driving an obscenely long time to get to a theater actually showing the movie.
This does mean that you need an HBO Max subscription though – the price for HBO Max is currently $14.99 per month.
Audience reception for The Little Things has been lukewarm at best. The Metascore is a middling 55 and IMDb currently has it rated at a 6.3 out of ten. Though it seems the scores are not from people rating it as mediocre, but instead from some people rating it extremely high and others rating it extremely low.
The outcome is a confusing middle-ground score that essentially means you’ll either love or hate this movie.
Those who have good things to say about The Little Things say that the actors are brilliant (they are all Academy Award winners). Audiences enjoy all three of the starring actors with Denzel Washington getting the most praise. Rami Malek’s performance is also viewed positively, though some admit it isn’t his best work and cite mumbling lines as part of the problem.
The viewers who enjoy the film often mention they enjoyed the plot, and found the ending to be especially gratifying.
Those who just aren’t vibing with The Little Things seem to all have similar gripes. The biggest trend you see over & over again is people taking issue with the editing style. The storyline overall is measured, biding its time, and carefully paced. However, the editing is fast-paced and has so many cuts that it could be likened to the editing style of a YouTube video trying to keep viewers’ attention.
Others also found the plot to be too slow, as well as feeling like a typical cookie-cutter crime thriller – despite what some of the positive reviews say.
