How to download Instagram stories in a few easy steps

If you want to download and save someone’s Instagram story (or your own), follow these simple steps.

There are many reasons that you might want to do this- such as saving an inspirational video from your favorite photographer, or just recording a memory. Maybe you’re even building a shrine for someone special. If it’s the latter, we won’t judge!

With the camera phone capabilities increasingly getting better, it’s no surprise that people are taking advantage by posting amazing photos and videos to their Instagram stories. But what happens when you want to view that footage outside of the app?

Instructions on downloading Instagram stories from your account

You can download your own Instagram stories in just a few easy steps.

To access and view your own Story, as well as the story you want to keep, tap on the “Your Story” icon located in the top left-hand corner of your feed.

Afterwards, press the three little dots on the lower right hand side that say “More”. A menu of options will pop up. Out of those choices, select “Save…” and then your story will be preserved in your camera roll/photos.

You also have the option of downloading an entire day’s worth of stories into one video clip. To do this, simply tap to the end of your stories and then tap “More”, “Save…” and “Save Story”.

How to view someone else’s Instagram stories on your computer

I discovered a few free websites that allow users to download the Stories and Highlights from other people’s accounts. So, if you want to keep up with your favorite photographers or content creators, this is a great way to do so – even if they never posted them yourself. To test it out (and avoid looking like a creeper), I used my new puppy’s account.

The website functions much like before. You type in the username of the Instagram account you want to Download from, give it a moment to load, and then save the Stories or Highlights you want to a chosen folder on your computer. The difference is that this newer website design appears more sleek and modern.
