Season Premiere: January 4, 2019
Watch it on Amazon: Finally an informed and humorous take on immigration that isn’t centered on pointing fingers and perpetuating stereotypes. Loosely based on the life of TV chef Eddie Huang and leveraging the semiautobiographical, conversationally narrated style of Everybody Hates Chris, it shot straight to the top of our favorite sitcoms. Alongside hilarious young newcomer Hudson Yang as Eddie’s younger self, Randall Park (Ant-Man and the Wasp) stars as his America-obsessed father, while Constance Wu has made herself a revelation thanks to her withering yet vulnerable performance as the family’s tough matriarch. Wu has been at the forefront of both the first American sitcom with a primarily Asian cast since 1994, and the most successful Asian-led American film ever (Crazy Rich Asians), and we can’t wait to see what this upcoming season has in store for her character and the rest of the Huang family.
