Wes Craven revolutionized the horror genre when he released Scream in 1996. It did many things other horror movies had never dared to, like killing off Hollywood starlet Drew Barrymore in the first twelve minutes.
Like Final Girl Prescott, the Scream franchise has been able to come back again & again. Its meta-commentary has fostered an occult following among fans. Watch Scream 5 online to see what happens next.
Scream 5
Scream 5 picks up twenty-five years after the original Woodsboro murders of the first film. Prescott (Neve Campbell) is once again joined by Gale Weathers (Courtney Cox) & Dewey Riley (David Arquette).
As always, though, fans will eventually be able to watch online as the plot takes unexpected twists & turns. Learning the identity of Ghostface is the least of their concerns as the killings once more unveil dark secrets in Woodsboro’s past.
Joining the original trio are newcomers like Jenna Ortega, Dylan Minnette, Melissa Barrera, and Jack Quaid. While fans won’t be able to watch Scream 5 online just yet, now is the perfect time to catch up on just what – and who – has been terrorizing Woodsboro in the last twenty-five years.

Before you watch Scream 5, catch up on the lore by watching Scream & Scream 2 online through Peacock Premium. Reminisce on how young Prescott, Weathers, and Riley look as they battle against Ghostface for the first time. You’ll quickly be reminded why Prescott is one of the best Final Girl characters around.
It all started with a deadly telephone game of discussing horror movies. Casey Becker (Drew) played it wrong and paid the price with her life. Prescott played the game and was forced to watch people like her BFF Tatum Riley (Rose McGowan) pay with theirs.

Prescott has started to capitalize on her own trauma to build herself up from it. However, Scream 4 reminds fans to look out among her friends – or family – for suspects.
Prescott is forced to relive the horrors of her high school trauma as the media plays vulture to the previous Woodsboro murders. It makes one wonder whether such experiences are enough to drive the ultimate Final Girl to murder. Scream 5 may toy with this and, in typical Scream fashion, deliver an unexpected plot twist.
Since all clues are hinting at Ghostface being among the main characters, fans need to be ready to be among theater seats when Scream 5 is released on January 14th.
