Morbius is an American Action-Horror movie (2022). Jared Leto, Michael Keaton, Adria Arjona are the main cast of Morbius (2022). The story is about a scientist Dr. trying to find a cure for a rare blood disease, however, he transforms into a vampire if he is successful. The film will tell the tale of Michael Morbius. The most recent trailer, that is out, draws attention because Morbius concentrates more on the vampire’s identity. Morbius will be released by Marvel Entertainment on April 1, 2022.
Although the specifics of the full plot remain a mystery, Morbius’ place in the multiverse remains unclear which is why fans debate whether the film is set within the MCU or the Venom universe, which is starring Tom Hardy. Based on all of this, we might have found the answer to this in the newest trailer released for Morbius. As we saw in the video, Morbius encounters Adrian Toomes from the MCU universe.
When and Where is Morbius Set?
Morbius is set in the present day and it looks like most of the action will be happening in and around New York. However, what’s most interesting is which universe the movie takes place in. While the film will be part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, the MCU connections make things a bit more complicated.
On the one hand, we’ve seen hints that the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man is part of this world (and possibly wanted for murder). There are also other little easter eggs in the trailers that connect the movie to the world of The Amazing Spider-Man and to Venom. But on the other hand, the Michael Keaton cameo just makes things even more confusing, especially in light of Venom: Let There Be Carnage’s surprise MCU twist. Guess we’ll just have to wait and watch Spider-Man: No Way Home to really get answers about this.
When Is “Morbius” Coming To Netflix?
Netflix and Sony Pictures Entertainment have a multiyear, exclusive first pay window licensing deal in the U.S. for theatrically released Sony feature films, beginning with their 2022 film slate, which includes “Uncharted” and “Morbius”.
This means that “Morbius” will be coming to Netflix in the United States after its theatrical run, which is usually about six months from the initial release, which would
be October/November. Once “Morbius” arrives on Netflix in the US, it’ll stay there for the pay one window, which is around 18 months.
Internationally, Sony has different contracts, such as with HBO Max in Central Europe, so it’s currently unlikely that “Morbius” will arrive on Netflix.
What Is the Plot of Morbius?
Morbius will primarily be the origin story of Michael Morbius, the Living Vampire. It will be retelling the story of how Morbius set out to cure a fatal blood disease and accidentally turned himself into a unique kind of vampire. This much we know.
The bulk of the movie will likely focus on Morbius trying to control his hunger while also being hunted by the authorities. The inclusion of Loxias Crown in the story suggests that this hunt will eventually end with Morbius and Simon Stroud, the FBI agent who’s after him, joining forces to take out a bigger threat. Seems pretty straightforward, all things considered, but expect some surprises to come your way once the movie is finally out.
Morbius Storyline- Inspired by Marvel Comics
Morbius is inspired by the famous Marvel Comics which has a very unique and interesting storyline. Directed by Daniel Espano, the movie is set to dazzle viewers by showcasing the talented Jared Leto as Michael Morbius.
The perplexing character of Michael Morbius will be portrayed as an antihero who is inflicted with a rare blood disease that lands him severely ill. To escape the torment of the disorder and help others who are similarly inflicted, Dr. Morbius embarks on a risky game of chance.
In the beginning, the gamble seems to have bore fruit but it is soon revealed that something is not right. Dr. Morbius senses a mysterious change as his vampirism begins to take form.
The question is will evil override his determination to work for a good cause or will he be successful in not falling victim to his urges. Only time will tell.
Morbius is receiving very positive reviews and currently has a 94 percent Rotten Tomatoes rating. Here’s a sampling of what the critics are saying:
IndieWire’s Kate Erbland lauds the “bright, colorful, zippy animation (some of the best in recent Pixar memory), with Shi and her animators often unfurling more classic style animation to tell storybook scenes or to contextualize the legacy of what Mei is enduring. It’s emotional, stunning, and a joy to behold.”
Jamie Graham of Total Film writes, “Morbius is funny, thrilling, gorgeously animated, features spot-on boyband tunes written by Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas, and of course boasts that inspired concept, even if the original Teen Wolf movie did much the same thing 37 years earlier.”
Leah Greenblatt of Entertainment Weekly calls it “breezily charming,” adding, “It captures something sweetly universal: Growing up is messy, no matter how you bear it.”
CNN’s Brian Lowry writes, “Morbius delivers an exquisitely animated story that’s moving as well as funny – welcome evidence that creatively speaking, at least, Pixar hasn’t lost its golden touch.”
