What’s next, Avengers? ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’, of course

Be warned! Nasty spoilers await below.

Stan Lee was a genius. He made our superheroes human, rounding out their heroic qualities with normal stuff like paying bills and eating dinner.

Peter Parker was always the most for-real emo of all Marvel characters, so we’re stoked to see that Jake Gyllenhall, the most emo of all actors, has joined the MCU coterie as Mysterio. (Just remember Donnie Darko, the emos’ battle cry.)

If you’ve just about recovered from the general high emotions, upset, and overall dusty atmosphere of Avengers: End Game, you’re likely all too enthusiastic for anything that may give you some joy.

In the new trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home, everyone is doing a great job of being sad. It would appear now is the time for Spidey to suffer. It’s not like things have been all peachy for any of the Avengers in recent movies. Tony Stark has been struggling with PTSD for years, and Thor has been feeling all the feelings since Thanos snapped his fingers in Avengers: Infinity War.

We join Spider-Man coming to terms with Tony Stark’s death and all the baggage that goes with that (such as basically replacing Stark’s role in protecting Earth).

To make matters worse, Peter Parker will have to deal with Mysterio – perhaps the movie’s big bad. Mysterio is a former special effects artist with a knack for utterly convincing and powerful illusions that blur the line between reality & fantasy.

In the comics, the villain has an augmented suit featuring various gadgets & weaponry – some of which have been known to cancel out Spider-Man’s spider-sense and feature chemicals that can dissolve Spidey’s webbing.

Don’t despair, tho. Your faves are returning to the cast & crew. Naturally, Holland will be returning as everyone’s favorite friendly neighborhood web-slinger, joined by fellow cast members Zendaya as Michelle Jones, Marisa Tomei as May Parker, and even Michael Keaton reprising his role as Vulture.

It’s also worth adding that Spider-Man: Homecoming screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are penning the Far From Home script and that Homecoming director Jon Watts will also be directing Far From Home, which indicates the film will maintain that similar fun vibe.

Watch the trailer now and let us know what you think.
