Watch your step, ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 5’ reunion spilled all the tea

RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season 5 is off to a hot start after the season’s premiere on June 5th. This season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars marks the first time the show airs on Showtime; RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season 5 also sports a new formula for the lip-sync portion of the competition, which might be so convoluted that you would think RuPaul has some Ph.D. in game show-ology.

How does lip sync work in RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season 5?

How do you win the lip-sync battle? For starters, only one winning queen is chosen to lip-sync against a surprise lip-sync assassin. The lip-sync assassin is picked from a previous RuPaul’s Drag Race season that isn’t RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. If the top queen wins, she chooses who gets sent home; however, if the lip sync assassin wins, then everyone else votes for which bottom queen is sent home.

The winner of the lip sync will receive a $10,000 tip, but if the assassin wins, the tip is rolled over to the next lip sync. The next lip-sync battle will be for the amount left over from the previous week plus 1$0,000, until one of the queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season 5 wins. We were all hoping for something unique this season, but this brain-bender proves that just because something is unique does not make it useful.
