Threesomes are still a taboo topic in film. Here are the best movie sex scenes that involve three people.

Three is the magic number: The best sex scenes involving threesomes

Threesomes are a tricky proposition. While a sexual tryst involving three people can often be awkward and uncomfortable in real life, Hollywood knows exactly what angles and edits to show to make it look appealing. If you don’t feel up to the challenge of a threesome IRL, you can live vicariously through the best threesome scenes that have been depicted on screen.

The scenes on this list vary from tender & romantic to aggressive & tense, depending on the needs of the story. Either way, they are sure to get you hot under the collar and open to the idea of experimenting. These are some of the best Hollywood sex scenes involving threesomes.

Knock Knock (2015)

Knock Knock is not a very good movie. It’s a cheesy horror flick that sees two women (Lorenza Izzo & Ana de Armas) bamboozle a married man (Keanu Reeves) into a series of increasingly disturbing sex games. It’s directed by Hostel mastermind Eli Roth, and it bears his trademark blend of bad acting & bizarre character motivation.

The reason the film is remembered and is currently trending on Netflix, is because of the heated threesome that occurs during the first act. Reeves’s character is coerced into having sex with both of the intruders, and we’d be lying if we said it wasn’t a steamy sight. Getting manipulated never looked so appealing.

Y Tu Mamá También (2001)

Alfonso Cuarón’s Y Tu Mamá También is the best film on this list. It chronicles the horniness of two high school buddies (Diego Luna & Gael Garcia Bernal) who go on a road trip with an older woman (Maribel Verdú) and the personal discoveries they make along the way. Both boys try to sleep with her throughout the trip but are unsuccessful until the final night.

They begin to have sex with the woman at the same time, but in the heat of the moment they begin to kiss each other as well. The film cuts away before we see anything graphic, but the emotional power of the scene is enough to provoke anybody’s imagination. It’s a powerful moment of vulnerability in a film about the limitations of machismo & youth.

The Dreamers (2003)

Bernardo Bertolucci is a professional when it comes to erotic cinema. His 1972 release Last Tango In Paris is hailed as one of the finest films ever made about sex, and 2003’s The Dreamers is not far behind. The film is about an American student named Matthew (Michael Pitt) who gets drawn into a sexual relationship with French twins Theo (Louis Garrel) & Isabelle (Eva Green).

The Dreamers is loaded with graphic sex scenes between all three characters. These scenes proved to be so steamy that the film earned an NC17 rating for its full frontal nudity. Bertolucci and the cast do not pull any punches here, so be prepared for some intense sexuality.

Threesome (1994)

The aptly-titled Threesome follows three students who, you guessed it, participate in a threesome with each other. The students are college roommates who come from varied walks of life: the intellectual Eddy (Josh Charles), the athletic Stuart (Stephen Baldwin), and the newcomer Alex (Lara Flynn Boyle). Eddy is secretly in love with Stuart, who is harboring feelings for Alex, so the titular threesome causes some romantic tension.

The sex scene is emotionally charged, and it comes from a real place. The film is based on the experiences of its writer & director Andrew Fleming, so the intensity feels all the more authentic. Check it out if you haven’t already.

Wild Things (1998)

Wild Things was the apex of the “erotic thriller” genre that drove Hollywood during the 1990s. It starred Matt Dillon as a henpecked husband who starts an affair with teenager Kelly (Denise Richards) and commits fraud to score an $8 million settlement. Things get complicated when Kelly brings in Suzie (Neve Campbell), and the sex and criminality hit new levels of deception

The threesome between Dillon, Richards, and Campbell is iconic, as are the other sex scenes scattered throughout the film. It helps that Wild Things is actually a compelling film, with twists and turns that will leave you baffled and aroused until the final credits roll.
