30 Rock

30 Rock often didn’t get as much hype as its NBC contemporaries The Office & Parks & Recreation. However, the show’s legacy has continued since it went off the air in 2013. 30 Rock is created by former Saturday Night Live writer & cast member Tina Fey. The show also stars Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan, Jane Krakowski, and Jack McBrayer.

30 Rock follows television writer Liz Lemon (Fey) as he clashes with NBC executive Jack Donaghy (Baldwin). In the show, Lemon runs a sketch comedy program called TGS, which is essentially a fictionalized version of SNL. 30 Rock is often regarded as one of the best-written TV shows of the decade. Columbo

One of the most influential TV programs of the 20th century, Columbo originally ran on NBC from 1968 to 1978. The show stars Peter Falk, who won four Primetime Emmy Awards for his portrayal of Lieutenant Columbo. Columbo follows the titular homicide detective as he attempts to solve various murders around Los Angeles.

The old-school series is interesting to watch for the show’s interesting social commentary. Lieutenant Columbo is blue collar & many of the people he tries to bust for murder are upper class. Columbo follows a strict formula, showing the crime being committed, then following Columbo as he tries to piece the clues together. You can watch Columbo for free online with Peacock.
