Creed is back! The blockbuster franchise, and continuation of the Rocky saga, has released the third and seemingly final (?) chapter, and fans have been gushing over its winning combination of action and emotion. The film has garnered positive reviews from critics and performed well at the box office, proving that the appeal of the underdog boxer endures.
Of course, with such a popular film, there are going to be people who want to watch it as soon as possible. It can be tricky to figure out where you can stream Creed 3, so we decided to put together this handy guide on what the film is about and where you can watch it ASAP!
What is the story of Creed 3?
Creed 3 follows the events of Creed 2, in which Adonis Creed defended his title against the son of the man who killed his father: Ivan Drago. It was a harrowing journey, but one that ultimately led to a sense of closure. Adonis is on the top of the world heading into the third film, but another figure from his past resurfaces: Damian Anderson.
Damian, or Diamond Dame, has just gotten out of prison, and he harbors resentment towards Adonis for the different paths their lives have taken. The tension between the old friends reaches a boiling point, and Adonis agrees to put his title on the line to settle things with Damian once and for all.
The film is notable for being the first directed by series star, Michael B. Jordan. He pulled influence from various anime shows when staging the fight scenes, and it’s evident in how intense and stylized the punches can get in the final bout.
Who is in the cast of Creed 3?
Michael B. Jordan returns, of course, given that he plays the titular character. Other returning actors include Tessa Thompson, who plays Creed’s wife, and Phylicia Rashad, who plays Creed’s mother. Wood Harris also reprises his role as Creed’s trainer. The big addition to the cast this time around is Jonathan Majors, who plays Damian. He brings ferocity to the role, and the chemistry between him and Jordan is evident from the first scene.
While the Creed franchise has been praised for various elements, the opponents have never been one of them. Majors easily takes the crown for most memorable opponent in the series, though he perhaps falls short of the iconography of Rocky icons like Drago and Mr. T.
The big omission, of course, is Sylvester Stallone as Rocky. This is the first time Stallone has not appeared in the franchise, and it was largely due to creative differences and disagreements between Stallone and producer Irwin Winkler. It’s disappointing to not have Rocky around to give Adonis advice, but the film manages to stand on its own nevertheless.
Where can I watch Creed 3?
Creed 3 is currently playing in theaters. It has grossed $190 million on a $75 million budget, making it a rousing commercial success. If it continues to do well, it will pass the total box office gross of Creed 2, which was $214 million. Because the film is doing so well, though, it will be a while before it’s made available on streaming.
There has not yet been a confirmed release date for Creed 3 on streaming and/or home video. You will either need to buy a movie ticket or roll the dice on streaming platforms like 123movies. The latter option can sometimes lead to pop ups surfacing on your computer, so be careful!
