Vape pens are growing in popularity. Find out the different ways that someone can use a vape pen and what to put in it.

What do you use in a Vape Pen?

Vaping is rapidly gaining popularity – and for good reason! Each year brings better, more efficient devices capable of using a variety of substances. Thanks to these innovations, vapers can use oils, herbs, waxes, e-liquids, and other concentrates discreetly and often with much more ease than other methods of consumption.

If you’ve recently become the owner of a vape pen, you may be unsure of what product is best to use with your pen. It is important to understand the type of pen you are using and what can go in it.

Certain types of pens are designed to use specific substances. If you use wax in vape mods designed for herb use only, you’re going to end up with a sticky, burnt mess and potentially damage your pen. This is why it is so important to know what is best to use with your pen.

Wax Vape Pens

Wax pens are designed to be used with waxes. In fact, if you prefer waxes, a wax pen is the best and only alternative to using a dab rig or a device like the Nectar Collector to consume your wax. Since wax is typically consumed in small amounts, it is important to find a device designed for wax for the best and most even heating.

If wax is used in a vape pen that is not designed to handle it, the pen can actually become permanently damaged. Wax is a very sticky substance and becomes stickier and difficult to remove once heated and dried. If used in a pen that is not designed for wax, the wax will likely damage the pen.

Oil Vape Pens

One of the most popular types of vape pen is an oil vape pen. Once you’ve used one, it’s hard to argue against their popularity. Oil vape pens are one of the easiest pens for beginners thanks to the availability of prefilled cartridges designed for use with these pens.

Aside from the prefilled cartridges, vapers who choose oil vape pens can also choose from a huge variety of oils to use with their device. Some of these oils can be found in a variety of flavors, making the experience much more enjoyable for those who do not enjoy the earthy taste of plain oil.

Herb Vape Pens

While some herb vape pens look a little different than your typical vape pen, they are well-loved by those who choose to vape herbs. Convection-style herb vape pens are larger than other vape pens, though they are still discreet and portable. With herb vape pens, you have the freedom to use whatever type of herb you choose, and you may find the experience more flavorful and enjoyable than other methods.

Herb is typically not found in flavored varieties, like other substances used with different types of vape pens. With its earthy and herbal flavor, herb is best suited for vapers who enjoy the natural taste of the herb more than fruity or sweet-flavored vapes.

CBD Vape Pens

For vapers of CBD, this type of vape pen is an easy and often more affordable way to use CBD. CBD vape pens use CBD oil and often come pre-filled. These pens are especially useful for CBD or vape beginners, since pre-filled pens give the vaper more control over the amount they consume without needing to measure the dose themselves.

Like oils, CBD vape pens can be found in a number of great flavors. New vapers who are hesitant about the flavor of natural oils or herbs may find a flavored disposable CBD vape pen a much more appealing entry point to vaping.

E-Liquid/E-Juice Vape Pens

By design, E-Liquid or E-Juice vape pens operate similarly to other oil vape pens. However, the coils in E-Liquid vape pens are designed to be used specifically with E-Liquid and E-Juice. CBD oil has a much thicker texture than E-Juice, so it is important to only use E-Juice with this type of pen to avoid damaging the coils and to produce the best vapor.

E-Juice vape pens can be an economical choice for vapers who like to experiment with different flavors.

Disposable Vape Pens

While disposable vape pens are slightly less affordable than their DIY counterparts, they are a great way to introduce vaping into your lifestyle. Unlike most other types of vape pens, disposable vape pens come preloaded, often with different fun flavors to choose from.

You would not want to add your own wax, oil, or e-juice to these pens, as they are designed to be disposed of after the preloaded oil has been consumed. They are also nice to have if you typically use a regular oil vape pen but like to have a backup or on-the-go pen.

3-in-1 Vape Pens

3-in-1 vape pens are typically best for experienced vapers. As the name suggests, these types of pens are capable of using herb, waxes, and oils. These devices will usually come with interchangeable coils or chambers which will need to be switched out as you switch substances.

With these devices, regular cleaning is even more important as wax will clog a vape more easily than herb. If a user is looking to vape herb after using oil or wax during their previous session, they may want to clean it between uses. Maintenance is important for all vape pens, but 3-in-1 pens may require some extra consideration.

3-in-1 vape pens can be more expensive than other types of vape pens due to their versatility and extra accessories included to accommodate different substances. However, the extra expense will likely prove worth the investment for vapers who want the flexibility of enjoying different substances with the same device.

For those who still prefer a more simple vaping experience, the standard THC vape pen that you can buy from any store is good enough! This also allows you to experiment to see if you truly prefer vaping THC and CBD flavours.

Different Vape Pens Call for Different Products

When you are new to vaping, it can be confusing to understand which types of substances you can use with your new pen.

If you have decided to try using a particular type of substance, like wax, be sure that you research the best way to use it and which devices are best designed to handle it. Always make sure that you are using the correct substance for your device BEFORE you load an incorrect substance and ruin your vape pen.

Investing time into researching and understanding different vape pens and substances will certainly pay off. After you decide which type of vape pen and substance best suits your personal needs and lifestyle, you’ll have plenty of great vaping sessions for years to come.
