Colin Trevorrow exits Star Wars: Episode IX

Lucasfilm and Disney announced that Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World) is no longer attached as the director of Star Wars: Episode IX. “Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ”, reads the Lucasfilm statement.

Hulu & Marvel bringing new show Runaways to NYCC

Marvel’s Runaways will be making its New York Comic Con debut this year. Executive producers Stephanie Savage (Gossip Girl) & Josh Schwartz (Chuck) will be heading to the convention along with their cast and Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb. The Hulu Originals series premieres in November and follows a misfit group of kids who discover their parents are supervillains.

Will canceled after first season at TNT

TNT has canceled Will, its freshman drama about Shakespeare’s early years, after just one season. Starring newcomer Laurie Davidson, the series debuted in July and aired its first season finale on Monday night, but was unable to find a substantial audience during its run, making it the lowest-rated TNT original series currently on the air.

Greg Garcia developing new comedy with CBS

CBS is developing a new comedy series, currently titled Welcome to Maine, with Greg Garcia set to executive produce. The multi-camera series follows a ninth-generation Maine family and a recent immigrant & his daughter who must learn to embrace each other when they share the same workplace in a small town.

Fox orders Cool Kids pilot from It’s Always Sunny team

Fox has ordered a pilot for a comedy series from the creative team behind It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The new the multi-camera show is titled Cool Kids and will follow the misadventures of three guys in a retirement community.

UTA names its new co-presidents

David Kramer & Jay Sures have been promoted as co-presidents of United Talent Agency. “Jay and David embody the greatest parts of UTA, and I couldn’t ask for better, smarter or more creative partners”, announced CEO Jeremy Zimmer.
