Getting your foot in the door is one of the most difficult steps for any filmmaker. Whether you’re a future writer, director, producer, actor, etc., it’s hard to find an audience with the people who can change your life. Competitions like The International Screenwriting Toronto Metropolitan Competition give writers a chance to score themselves a meeting.

With 2020 changing the way films and TV shows are being made, screenwriting competitions are the perfect way for writers to get their voice out there. For the past six years, The International Screenwriting Toronto Metropolitan Competition has been giving up and coming writers a chance to get a meeting with talent scouts and producers.

As you try to find an audience to hear you script pitch, The International Screenwriting Toronto Metropolitan Competition is here for you.

Giving all genres and countries a chance

The point of hosting an international screenwriting competition is to give everyone their equal chance of fame and fortune. Great screenwriters can come from any country, and deserve the opportunity to meet with the people in power in LA, Toronto, and NYC.

Plus, unlike major award shows, great scripts can be from any genre. Romance, drama, comedy, sci-fi, whatever, a great movie can be numerous genres. The International Screenwriting Toronto Metropolitan Competition wants to fairly give every up and coming writer to try and help give them the tools for success.

Success stories

2017 finalist Brian Andrews was signed to Management 360 after his great script was recognized by The International Screenwriting Toronto Metropolitan Competition. Keep in mind, after only an hour meeting with scouts there, Andrews was able to get a talent manager.

2019’s finalist got a personal meeting with six different talent agents and producers, and even met with the top manager at Fictional Entity. Just last year, finalists were introduced to talent managers and executives at Empirical Evidence, the Cartel, Artistic Vision Productions, Kersey Management, and Storyline.
