Are these popular TikTok songs actually the worst?

It seems like almost every day, new songs are getting popular on TikTok. At this point, musicians know that TikTok is the best place to release new music because all you have to do is showcase the best thirty seconds of your song for it to become an instant success.

On TikTok, users are able to find their favorite songs and lip-sync to the catchy lyrics or come up with creative choreography. Whenever TikTok users are impressed by the choreography of others, they recreate similar videos to show off the same dance moves. TikTok songs are easy to get hooked on. But some of them are pretty annoying! These are some of the worst.

“Mad at Disney” by Salem Ilese

The reason people on TikTok aren’t a big fan of “Mad at Disney” by Salem Ilese is that the lyrics tend to rub people the wrong way. In the song, the lyricist is describing how they’re so upset with Disney because they can’t find anyone to live with in real life.

It seems pretty unfair to blame the fairytales included in Disney movies for your inability to find love in real life. Everyone knows that when you watch a Disney movie, it’s clearly fictional. Cute animated movies aren’t meant to be taken so seriously and this song throws daggers at Disney.

“Then Leave” by Beat King

While some people might find this Hip Hop song to be a catchy twerking anthem, other people find it to be extremely annoying. The lyrics are pretty edgy since the female rapper expresses her interest in hooking up with both guys & girls even though she doesn’t consider herself to be gay.

According to Jonny Lewis from Song Decode, the main message in this song is to focus on getting money, using other people for sexual favors, and then dipping out. The song might be a little coldhearted but at the same time, it’s still pretty funny.

“First Place” by Larray 2 Thicc

A lot of people have used “First Place” as a song in the background of their trending TikTok videos but they really shouldn’t! This song is pretty obnoxious, lacks intelligent lyrics, and doesn’t really have an enjoyable flow to listen to. One of the coolest things about Hip Hop music is that the flow of the music sounds so good along with the beat. Unfortunately, this song doesn’t fit any of the standards and totally misses the mark.

“Sugar Crash” by Elyotto

“Sugar Crash” is super popular on TikTok but there’s something so disappointing about it. When people first hear it they might be captivated by it at first but after playing and replaying it too many times in a row, you’ll start to notice just how annoying the high-pitched and whiny voice really sounds.

Most people who make videos using this sound simply lip-sync to the words and it doesn’t end up looking like anything special. The message in the song is about not wanting to hate yourself which is actually a positive thing in this generation but still, this song just sounds tacky.

“Arigato, NYA!” by an unknown person

Whoever started this particular song on TikTok really didn’t care how annoying it would be to listen to it over & over again. It’s super short but it doesn’t bring much to the table which is why it’s considered one of the worst songs on TikTok these days. It has yet to redeem itself.

“Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears

In 1985, Tears for Fears released the song “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” and ever since then, each new generation has totally milked its lyrics. These days, the song is being overplayed on TikTok. Whenever users on TikTok use this sound for the videos, they describe feeling nostalgia for a time they never experienced in life which makes a lot of youngsters come off like posers.
