‘The Magicians’ cancelled: The best shows and movies featuring the cast

The fantasy of Fillory, along with all the magic of hit show The Magicians, is gone. The Syfy show was cancelled and saw its last episode in season 5.

Fans are feeling the void without the show’s actors in their lives. Looking to see where else you can catch the main cast? Read along to discover some of their most notable roles.

Jason Ralph (Quentin)

Fans were crushed when main character Quentin died in The Magicians season 4 and Ralph was no longer on the show. Ralph is most known for his role as Peter Pan in Peter and the Starcatcher on Broadway.

However, fans can currently catch Jason Ralph in a recurring role on TV Land drama Younger alongside fellow Broadway star Sutton Foster & Disney alum Hilary Duff.

Stella Maeve (Julia)

Stella Maeve’s character Julia put fans through the wringer throughout the multiple seasons of The Magicians. For better or worse, Maeve’s acting made her a scene-stealer. Due to the birth of her new baby girl, Maeve doesn’t have any known upcoming projects. Fans of the actress can see Maeve’s past role as Nadia Decotis in Chicago P.D.

Hale Appleman (Elliot)

It’s hard to imagine what The Magicians would be without Elliot’s comedic relief. Appleman’s previous credits before The Magicians were relatively small roles and cameos. However, Appleman did land a starring role in 2011 drama Private Romeo.

Summer Bishil (Margo)

Before making her mark as Margo, Bishil made appearances in several television shows. Many young millennials may remember her role as the lovable genie Aneesa in Disney Channel Original Movie Return to Halloweentown. To see her in a more mature role, fans should turn to 2007 film Towelhead.

Jade Tailor (Kady)

Playing Kady in The Magicians was actress Jade Tailor’s breakout role. Tailor took her talents to another science fiction program when she played Heather in the film Higher Power.

Arjun Gupta (Penny)

The Florida-born actor has graced screens in multiple TV movies & dramas before dawning the role as the charismatic Penny. Gupta’s first major role was in 2009 alongside Uma Thurman in the film Motherhood. He also scored a reoccurring spot in medical comedy-drama series Nurse Jackie, starring Edith Falco.

Oliva Dudley (Alice)

Alice quickly entered the hearts of many as the meek yet noble nerd in The Magicians. For those looking to catch her start, 2012 proved to be a huge year for Dudley as she earned her first major film role in the thriller Chernobyl Diaries

Brittany Curran (High King Fen)

Curran is another actress who joined the show a bit later, but her role as High King Fen made a wonderful addition to the show. Curran’s face may have been familiar to many before her Magicians appearance – the actress has been in several notable movies and TV shows including Legally Blondes, Twisted, and Dear White People.

Rick Worthy (Dean Fogg)

Rick Worthy has appeared in a variety of science fiction & fantasy television shows throughout his career. Older fans may know him for his role as cylon model number 4 Simon O’Neill in Battlestar Galactica (2004). Worthy’s most recent notable roles include The Man in the High Castle & The Vampire Diaries.

Honorable mention: Sean Macguire (The Dark King)

While Sean wasn’t a main character, his role as The Dark King in the final season of The Magicians is hard to forget and would be a crime not to mention. For those unfamiliar with his work, Macguire played heartthrob hero Robin Hood on the fantasy show Once Upon A Time.
