How much longer until ‘TharnType: The Series’ season 2? What we know

It feels like ages ago at this point when we first got to fall in love with Tharntype: The Series. Then again, March did feel like it lasted its own decade, and January 2020 doesn’t even feel like it was part of this year. But as desperate fangirls, we need more MewGulf in our lives yesterday.

No surprise, Tharntype 2 was announced in February after the massive success of the first season of the boy love Thai drama. The first workshop for the show was held back in May, so hopefully that means production should be starting soon on the new season. We’ve gathered up all the Tharntype news we could find to dish on the new season.

A time jump?

Probably the biggest news is the new season’s name. Tharntype 2: 7 Years of Love was revealed back in the beginning of February when season 2 was announced. Our happy couple, Tharn and Type, are still together, but it’s not complete sunshine and rainbows.

As we wait to see if their love can overcome it all, we do know that Mew Suppasit and Gulf Kanawut aren’t going anywhere. They’re just going to be a bit older, out of university, and hopefully wiser.

New competition in town

Nothing can stay the same though, especially since Tharntype is jumping into the future. June 12th brought the announcement of new cast members for the second season, nearly four months after auditions were held.

Just a few of the new names include Ja Phachara (Until We Meet Again), First Chalongrat (2gether), and newcomers Title Tanatorn and Jame Jirayu. But don’t worry, Champ, Techno, and Thorn are all coming back as well, as Boat Napat, Mild Suttinut, and Tong Thanayut are all confirmed to return to their respective roles.

Coming out in 2020? Maybe

Like we said before, May marched the beginning of workshops for Tharntype 2. While production hasn’t officially been started yet, Mew and Gulf have been teasing what fans can expect from season 2 for a while now. It’s going to be hot if they’re telling even half of the truth about the new season.

But most importantly, if the show’s already in workshops, it could still be ready for a late 2020 premiere. While we don’t know for certain if COVID-19 delayed production at all or not, Thailand is usually quick about getting new dramas filmed and on the air, so we’re praying that remains the case once again.
