Tyler Posey is adorably excited about the upcoming 'Teen Wolf' movie on Paramount+. Get hyped with him for the upcoming movie.

Who’s joining Tyler Posey in the ‘Teen Wolf’ movie?

Jeff Davis’s Teen Wolf series was a loose adaptation of the iconic 1985 movie of the same name. Paramount+ is now developing a movie adaptation of the hit MTV series set for a 2022 release. Talk about a full-circle moment – or should we say, full-moon!

Teen Wolf alum Tyler Posey joined EW last Monday to talk about the upcoming movie. Posey is excited to reprise his role as True Alpha Scott McCall. He’s even more excited to see McCall & his crew all grown up.

Fans of the Teen Wolf series are waiting with bated breath to see which other original cast members will return for the movie. Who else can fans expect to see returning to Beacon Hills?

Humble beginnings

MTV’s Teen Wolf was a far cry from Michael J. Fox’s fur-covered Scott Howard dancing on top of a bus to “Surfin’ USA”. It was less of a campy tale about a teenage werewolf, and more a dramatic story about murder & mayhem.

Teen Wolf follows sixteen-year-old McCall as he embarks on a harrowing journey after being turned into a werewolf. From banshees to kitsunes, McCall & his pack encounter all manners of supernatural beings.

Of course, most of those beings are trying to kill them. It makes for an exciting time for the fans, but not so much for unfortunate residents of Beacon Hills. Teen Wolf ends with the McCall pack gathering once more to fight a big, bad villain.

Lowkey hilarious

While MTV’s Teen Wolf was known for its darker moments, it also delivered some lowkey funny moments. Who can forget Isaac Lahey (Daniel Sharman) referring to McCall as “the hot girl”?

One of the most iconically funny moments of the show comes from a simple misunderstanding. When McCall’s werewolf abilities elevate him to lacrosse team captain, Jackson Whittemore (Colton Haynes) gets suspicious.

He accuses McCall of cheating by juicing – slang for taking steroids. McCall hilariously responds, “My mom does all the grocery shopping.” Hopefully, the movie is just as apologetic about letting the audience see the funnier side of teens fighting for their lives.

Paramount+

In September, Paramount+ teased Teen Wolf fans by announcing the official movie. It promises the story continues with a 2022 release. What could this possibly mean? Will the movie continue where the series left off?

The season finale of Teen Wolf ended with a flash-forward. The villainous Tamora Monroe has begun building an army of hunters. Meanwhile, the McCall pack has begun recruiting outcast supernatural beings to help them in their fight against her.

Not much has been revealed about the plot for the Teen Wolf movie. However, Paramount+ released the description for the plot. The McCall pack reunites to battle their most formidable enemy yet. Are they finally facing off against Monroe & co.?

Wolfy reunion

In Posey’s interview with EW, he was especially excited to see Stiles Stilinski (Dylan O’Brien) return as McCall’s best friend. Does this mean O’Brien will definitely return for the Teen Wolf movie?

Posey went on to call the friendship between McCall & Stilinski the most important part of the show. While full details of the movie’s plot have yet to be released, Posey said he’d love to see the relationship explored – romantically or platonically.

Other cast members have not been confirmed to reprise their roles. Holland Roden has expressed excitement at being able to return as Lydia Martin, but fans are still waiting to see if Martin will actually come back to the McCall pack.

Filming for the Teen Wolf movie begins in January 2022. In the meantime, Paramount+ will begin streaming all 100 episodes in December.

For fans too eager to wait for the holiday season, however, they can catch up on the series by streaming it on Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Google Play, YouTube, iTunes, or VUDU.
