‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’: Stream all the best Marvel movies now
Are you ready for more Spidey? ‘Cause we definitely are! Spider-Man: No Way Home is the latest Marvel movie we desperately want to stream. Honestly, who doesn’t want to stream movies nowadays – in the wake of the coronavirus, staying home to watch flicks has become much more common, and its convenience is unmatched.
So can Spider-Man: No Way Home stream somewhere online? And how have we been able to stream previous entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Let’s go over the history of watching MCU movies & series online, then see where Spider-Man: No Way Home streams.
A brief history of streaming Marvel material
Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe hit its peak in 2012, with the release of The Avengers, and a new development came. Marvel Television, a subdivision created in 2010, released Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in 2013, and in the same year, they looked to produce multiple TV series in the MCU universe. Various streaming services were on the table to make these shows, but ultimately, Netflix was chosen as their partner.
This led to multiple Marvel shows on the streaming service. Daredevil was its first production, releasing in 2015 to critical acclaim, it was followed by Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher. The first four shows got a collaborative miniseries called The Defenders as well. These television creations were great for Netflix, running from 2015 to 2019.
But things did not last. Early in 2019, all of the Marvel series on Netflix were canceled. By now, Disney was preparing to create their own streaming service, Disney+; it launched later that year. Because of this, Disney no longer needed to team up with another streaming platform, though they couldn’t contractually use the Marvel-Netflix series’ characters until two years later.
And so, Disney went forward with making their own Marvel streaming series on Disney+. The first release was WandaVision, followed by The Falcon & the Winter Soldier, Loki, What If…?, and (the most recent release) Hawkeye. And many more shows are to come on the platform, such as She-Hulk & Ms. Marvel. All have been extremely successful on the platform, bringing viewers new & old to the MCU.
And that’s where we’re currently at. We can expect many more Marvel series on Disney+. But how about the new Spider-Man movie? Will Spider-Man: No Way Home stream on the platform? Before we discuss that, let’s go over the general plot of the movie.
About Spider-Man: No Way Home
Spider-Man: No Way Home is the result of a long production battle between Sony (who owns the rights Spider-Man movies) & Disney (who owns all of Marvel). This flick continues the story we’ve seen so far of Spider-Man, real name Peter Parker. His civilian identity was compromised in the previous movie, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and here, we pick up right where things left off.
Parker asks Doctor Strange, the MCU’s “Master of the Mystic Arts”, to change reality and hide his identity from the public again. When the good doctor attempts to do this, a hole is torn open in the multiverse, and five supervillains from different realities escape through it, terrorizing Parker’s world. And so, Parker teams up with two alternate Spider-Mans (from the previous Sony Spider-Man franchises) to stop them.
This film has a lot to live up to: Sony’s previous Spider-Man film, 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, presented a fun, exciting romp through the superhero multiverse, and got critical acclaim. Thankfully, Spider-Man: No Way Home has been received extremely positively by audiences & critics, and made over a billion dollars at the box office (it was made for $200 million).
Where can Spider-Man: No Way Home stream?
As Spider-Man: No Way Home was just recently released in theatres, it’s not available to stream just yet. However, based on how Disney has released their previous films, we can predict a few ways Spider-Man: No Way Home can be streamed in the future.
First & foremost, Disney has a habit of making their Marvel Cinematic Universe movies & shows available to rent or purchase on various online storefronts. So if you want to own a digital copy, that’s your best bet. But if you just want to stream it, they do put their MCU material on Disney+ as well – their streaming service hosts all of the mainline Marvel material, and we’re sure Spider-Man: No Way Home will stream there.
So there you have it. We’re looking forward to having Spider-Man: No Way Home stream online. In the meantime, go stream your favorite Marvel movies on Disney+ today! It’s your best bet and will be a fun time.
