Snoop Dogg is already one of the highest-paid rappers in the industry. Did the Mike Tyson fight boost his net worth? Read about it here.

Snoop Dogg’s net worth sees a hefty net boost thanks to Mike Tyson

For many of us, events to look forward to were far too few in 2020, a year when coronavirus dominated the media and our lives.

Thankfully, back in July, we were told that Mike Tyson would be strapping on the gloves once more to face an old foe and former four-division world champion, Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition match, slated for the fall season.

The event was to take place in Los Angeles, CA at Staples Center, home of the Los Angeles Lakers, with an exciting undercard featuring new boxer and former NBA star Nate Robinson against Youtuber and controversial public figure, Jake Paul. The event, initially scheduled for September, was eventually pushed to late November in order to maximize revenue and commercial interest for the event.

However, the delay didn’t matter. The sports world was finally ready to be excited about something that didn’t involve a vaccine or Baby Yoda (aka The Mandalorian’s Grogu). Former Undisputed Heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson was finally stepping back into the ring, showing us once again why he was worthy of the nickname “Iron Mike”.

Tyson usually has a good ear for what his fans want – even if that ear was in his mouth. Regardless, he finally returned to give us a fun fight, battling Jones Jr. in an 8-round match that ultimately ended in a draw – and lots of hugging. But who won the night if the main event ended in a draw?

While many think the answer is Jake Paul, knocking out Nate Robinson very early in the match with a KO punch taking Robinson all the way back to 2006 when he won his first of three Slam Dunk Contests, the answer is actually someone else . . .

We’re talking about Martha Stewart’s best friend and new sous chef, the hiphop OG himself, Snoop Dogg. More specifically, we’re talking about Snoop’s increasing net worth. Stealing the evening was the Doggfather himself, who opened the night by performing some of his classic hits including “Gin and Juice” and “Next Episode”.

Snoop then took a seat at the announcer’s table and joined the fight as a color commentator, providing some of the most entertaining anecdotes and sound bites boxing has sorely been missing over the years.

Some of Snoop Dogg’s commentary included the following: “This S**t’s like two of my uncles fighting at the BBQ.” “Put some vaseline on that s*** and keep it going!” “Side order of short ribs with some Mike Tyson sauce on it!”

LeBron James, who watched the fight from his home in LA, took to Twitter to personally shout-out the entertainment value Snoop Dogg brought to the event, saying that Snoop is “Simply the greatest at whatever he does!”

So how did this all fair for Snoop’s net worth? Simple. Perhaps Snoop has found a lucrative future career in sportscasting.

Undeniably stealing the show, Snoop took to his Instagram page and shared a fan tweet pleading networks such as TNT & CBS sign Snoop Dogg for a “three years for $15 million deal.” The fan even went as far as to call Snoop “Charles Barkley on steroids.”

Barkley himself is known for his innocent hijinx and honesty as a commentator himself.  This post garnered much support from fellow friends and other celebrities such as Jamie Foxx, Timbaland, and D Smoke. Snoop even went as far as to like his own post, himself.

The rapper-host-actor and now color commentator currently has an estimated net worth of $152 million. Is it safe to say that Snoop Dogg could be in for another large payday if these networks take the bait and reel in the Doggfather for their next big event? A $15 million deal would most certainly bump his net worth, but we’ll have to wait to see Dogg’s future.
